Absolutely love this item! Despite the weak Canadian dollar in exchange, and the additional tariffs bringing the cost to approximately $200.00 CDN , I still feel this was a worthwhile purchase. First, it simply looks absolutely fantastic on my nightstand! What a great conversation piece. Additionally my partner, a certified "neat freak" appreciates the organization of all my gear (or at least what fits in the case). Second and perhaps more importantly, I've grown to look forward to the ritual of choosing my blade, light, pen and assorted man jewelry each morning. Who among us cant stand to add a little ritualistic gravitas to their day

? Third, the charging station is much more useful than I had anticipated. I'm able to charge my two USB cabled flashlights simultaneously as required, with no issue. Great product...

BiggEMMI've been looking for a valet/organizer like this for a while. This could suit my needs. Thanks for the review! Btw, what is the knife with the black scales below the one with the blue scales?

Love this! everyone should have one! the only thing that would make this better is to have an extra drawer bottom either included as part of the unit or even better, as an separate extra add on that this can sit on top of for all the extra knives, lights and watches one may have..... something to think about.

So, this is a kind of a weird product. I'm not really sure what niche it's supposed to fill. If you're a full on knife nerd, there's not enough slots here for your collection. And if you're a watch person, there's nowhere near enough watch slots. but I guess I'm not a hardcore watch guy nor a big knife guy. so it works for me. I have 3 non apple watches (seiko mickey mouse 60th anniversary, victorinox officers model, suunto vector) and an assortment of knives (BM 42, BM 42 AS, BM 51, ZT 302, ZT 301, Fox Karambit, etc.). I also have an assortment of cheap fountain pens and tactical pens and some nice lights (surefire E2D defender, 6P, Quark 4Sevens, Streamlight, etc). So these have a home in this case as well. It all fits and looks nice, but I just can't shake the feeling that it's a compromise. Do I regret buying it? no. Is it an ultimate solution? no. I guess what I'm saying is I really need a dedicated knife case and a dedicated flashlight case and a dedicated pen case (I don't enough nice watches to need a separate case). I can live with the plastic top. Keeping that looking nice is just a matter of maintenance and not letting dust build up. And if does build up, using proper cleaning technique.

braswesThis products main purpose is for EDC people who have weekly rotation of knives watches torches ect, so as an example Monday maybe items with copper in them Tuesday mabye benchmade day and so on. So instead of having to look through all your knives and choose one, you just have 5,6 or 7 of your presently in favour knives put in your valet and choose what feels good or is needed for that day when you dress.

Bravo, this is well thought out and executed. I really hope there will be an option to buy a piece with a few draws that this could be stacked on top of

The seems to be built solid, and is fairly nice looking for the most part. The features are unique in that it's tailored more to the knife person than the typical watch collector. I wish the cover material could have come in a more traditional brown leather look, as my bedroom furniture is traditional wood/stain. Unfortunately, the lid on mine does not align with the base. Every time I handle it, I'm reminded of this through both sight and touch, Combine that with some visible seams that show the underside of the cover material, and it just makes me feel like it's over priced. Despite my negative observations with my unit, I feel I will probably get good use from it. I'm disappointed that I do not feel like I got good value for my money, which is a first for me when shopping with Massdrop. I'm not sure I can recommend this product to friends or family.

Overpriced, especially the drawer, and watch inserts are unusable
The main cabinet is alright, aside from being reaaaally cheap for the price. I did expect it to feel... better. It looks and feels as cheap as everyone says it does. The pleather is stretch around the seems and where the boards meet, making it look even cheaper. The extra drawer is crazy, given the price. No dividers or anything, which it really needs because it's so damned hard to move. You'll jerk it every time you try to open, close, or slightly move it, sending the contents sliding around wildly. My biggest gripe though is the three watch... pillows? The inserts. They're freaking massive. My leather and cloth bands will fit, obviously, but none of my metal bracelets will fit around them, at all. It's ridiculous. I don't remember what my wrist size actually is, but it's right at the upper end of average. If you've got small wrists? FORGET IT. If you've got average wrists and nothing but metal bracelets on your watches? NOPE.

Thanks man. I shouldn’t of said I couldnt find a lot of them. I see your case(I like your toothpicks), benchmarks, kershaws and crkt. The main one I was wondering about is middle upper row red wood handle with 4 either hex or torc screws, and the black spyderco above the watches. Appreciate it.

Ozark23Gotcha. Yeah. That is a nice one. It is a Darrel Ralph Osprey. Marking stamp says: Delta Z crafted in Italy. The Spyderco is the Vallatton G10 sub hilt. I put a Spyderco beaded lanyard on there separate. Hope that helps. I’ll have to update my photos. I’ve added a couple of new knives and watches.

Probably more like 3.5 stars
I purchased the optional box with the valet as well. TL;DR - You REALLY have to want it and you REALLY need to do some prep and research for this to be worth the near $200 price tag. Pros:
  • Probably the only knife/watch combo valet display
  • Nice and large to fit most if not all your EDC stuff, especially the drawer if you decide to get it
  • Down to even its size it fit my needs exactly.
Cons:
  • For the price I was expecting a certain level of "custom furniture" and it didn't really hit that mark.
  • Fit and finish is not 100%. Some tolerances are tight when they should be loose, some tolerances are loose when they should be tight. Effort needs to be made to make the latch and lock catch. Knife shelf needs to be in an exact spot to fit flush, the same can be said for the bottom drawer.
  • I feel the latch & lock mechanism is upside down. In it's current configuration it's difficult to open one-handed, which is what I find myself trying to do all the time.
  • I have three watches now, but I see that changing in the near future.
  • I'm not a fan of the "soft touch" exterior. I would've preferred a laminate or vinyl of some sort. I feel that any sharp object or corner would tear right through the exterior and ruin it.
__________________________________________ I saw this on Drop in June of 2020. I was in the middle of reorganizing/cleaning my bedroom and it fit perfectly for my needs. The place where I kept my EDC stuff was getting cluttered and unmanageable and if I were to clean it all up I would be losing out on some economy of space. I got out my tape measure and looked at the space I had and this box would fit exactly, within inches, of the spot that I had. Then I saw the price tag and I couldn't go through with it. $200 is a bit of a pill to swallow when amazon sells an eight watch valet with a drawer for less than $30. I thought to myself that there had to be a cheaper option out there. And there are, but eventually none of them fit as well as the Drop Cache. I probably checked at least half a dozen sites looking for something comparable: amazon, target, walmart, wayfair, bestbuy (for some reason), overstock, and plain old google and nothing really checked all the boxes. From $30 to $150 all the valets and boxes had something that would disqualify it from being purchased. On the low end the valets were too small and couldn't really hold all the things I had. In and around the $100 realm things were better, but boxes were either still too small or they had spaces made for things I did not own (rings, bracelets, necklaces, cufflinks) and were not removable/modular. Then at ~$150 you might as well get the Drop Cache. I feel I should also note that all the valets I looked at had no actual space for EDC knives, besides the Drop Cache. So through all my trial and error and the process of elimination I decided on the Drop Cache even though, in the end, it's not the awesome/incredible valet that I hoped it would be.

Item was unable to satisfy customer needs and Massdrop's unwillingness to accept returns is completely unsatisfactory. Lesson learned and  extremely disappointing. Buyer beware of purchases from Massdrop.

Wow. You guys are blasting this guy for saying that he was not happy with the quality of the merchandise he bought and he thinks the seller not accepting returns is bad customer service. I happen to agree with him and think if I paid $120 for a product that when received was a major disappointment to me because of it's build quality and the seller didn't accept returns I'd never buy from them again.

Great storage/showcasing option for the stuff you carry or collect. It's well made, sturdy and looks good. Only downside i can see is that the hidden compartments are hard to reach because the two knifedisplay shelves on top are a pain to remove. Besides that this is a must have for every EDC nerd with a collection he is proud of.
