I wish there was an add on for a soldered or hotswap pcb that comes with the kit. Shelling out $140 on the barebones and adding $95 just for the case leaving the og case unused is just disappointing lol
KevinWould it not be possible to merge these cases in as options to the normal drops, with a *noted case pre-order delay? I would highly consider ordering this, but without the option to actually have a PCB too, without paying for a case I wouldn't use also... just... why.
XenoMuseRight now the sale of this product is geared towards people who already have a CTRL or ALT keyboard (high or low profile), and want to swap it out to change the color/profile.
For someone like yourself, we fully plan to offer to sell you a standalone PCB, aluminum case, switches, keycaps and basically have a "keyboard kit in a box" that's been customized to your desired case style, color, switch, and keycap. We're not quite there yet, so you're catching us at an awkward phase...
Our site will be undergoing a change in coming weeks and that'll allow you to (relatively easily) buy the CTRL or ALT keyboard and add the colored case to your order.
KevinI'm willing to wait for a standalone PCB. Is it a sure thing that that's coming eventually? I kinda want to get one of these now, but I don't want to end up stuck with a case I can't use.
R1ddl3It's in the pipeline, it's basically the next major release from us... We just don't have an exact timeline yet because of production bottlenecks in China due to COVID.
KevinYou probably can't say this yet, but will the new PCB have upgraded features?
fyi already ordered the ALT version of this case. With a new pcb and some left over stuff I have, I could basically build an extra keyboard to gift to a friend.
As I said before, I really like the way you're heading with this. It's a very cool idea.
Kevinhell yeah. Because after this one comes i will be left with a ctrl case that has absolutely no use whatsoever. I cant even sell it on mechmarket. I would really love to be able to buy a standalone hotswap pcb for the ctrl. I love the keyboards, just wish the parts were available.
KevinLooking forward to being able to purchase parts. Would also love to see a PCB upgrade that makes it a little more power efficient to work on lower power USB ports.
elle-elle-teeYes, they'll be on sale for the foreseeable future. After the current "pre-order" timer runs out, all pre-orders will be shipped and it will move to a standard "buy it today, get it in a few days" model. Price will be the same, but the rewards points that you get will be "standard", versus right now you get double.
Kevinhmm, so while the Drop was supposed to go on for several more days, it has been closed early and when it opens again, the rewards points will only be standard? That seems a bit disinenuous. I was holding off til payday tomorrow to put in an order, but now they're "sold out". The "pre-order" timer has run out early -- it would be only fair of you to offer double the rewards until the posted date.
elle-elle-teeThat's an oversight. We're able to ship these keycaps sooner than previously anticipated so we switched it over from "pre-order" to "buy" (in-stock). By default, in-stock orders give 5% points, so that swapped over. We've adjusted it so that it's now back at 10%, until the initial pre-order date that was previously planned elapses, THEN it will switch back to 5%. New system for us so we're still getting used to it, thanks for bringing it to our attention.
Kevinit happened again -- while I was making the final decision about my order today, the product became unavailable. there had been 2 days remaining on the drop.
elle-elle-teeNot sure what happened, I've seen multiple orders for this coming through today. Best guess is refresh your browser, maybe log in/out of the site and try to place the order. If it doesn't work email customer service and they'll get you sorted.
