Just read about an alarming issue with the Kaihua Box Switches, apparently the stems are too wide causing the keycap stems to break. Is Massdrop aware of this issue and has it been resolved by Kaihua on this batch of keyboards? If not Massdrop should send out new switches for all of us who ordered Box Switches and wants to replace the keycaps. Sucks paying 199 dollars for a keyboard with faulty switches. Would love an answer from Massdrop regarding this.
deak0iNot sure which versions Massdrop is using, but certain sites like Novelkeys addressed the issue and the switches on their sites should have the updated stems to not cause keycap problems.
jdamourI mean, I can understand why he would be concerned. MGSickler (the owner of Novelkeys) mentioned that he didn't get his switches restocked with the updated stems until 2 weeks ago. So it's highly probable that Massdrop is still using the old switches that can ruin your keycaps.
And yes, @jdamour is correct. @YanboWu mentioned that the box switches used are the old ones after further searching. It's a post from 2 weeks ago in the discussions.
ShunpohYes, I really don't think it matters if this has been mentioned before. People should be aware of this issue before ruining expensive keycaps. Massdrop should also take responsibility and inform buyers of this issue.
deak0iPeople can do a quick search if they're really concerned about the box switches. It's not like they were trying to hide the issue and YanboWu's response is a clear sign of that. And if it really bothers them, it's not difficult to get newer switches.
And before you say that's not going to be the solution, they also have the choice of passing on the keyboard. A quick search answers everything.
