EDIT: Massdrop has fully taken responsibility and stepped up regarding the issues me and many others have faced regarding the CTRL. I actually have my replacement CTRL on the way right now and it will get here on 10/16/18.
I received a defective CTRL today. I can't say I am too enthusiastic about it. Defective LEDs would be one of the easiest things to catch in a QC test. I think this all but proves that there is very little QC done on these boards before sending them out.
I am less mad about the defective keyboard than I am about my switches. I swapped out the Halo Trues for a mix of my own Kailh BOX Jades and Navies, as well as put my own keycaps on the board for now since two of the caps I received were too loose to stay on the board. Now unnecessary stress and wear & tear is going to be put on my switches and keycaps since I have to remove them all and then reinstall them on a new board.

EDIT: Those of you who have also received defective boards, let us all know what kind of resolutions you guys reach with this.
Seems like there are a lot of defective boards this round of the drop. It's kind of disappointing. I really deeply love the keyboard, and aside from the two dead LEDs on the rim lighting and the two loose keycaps that didn't stay on (I already replaced the caps with my own anyway), the keyboard is absolutely perfect. I love that I was able to slap my new absolute favorite switch in this premium feeling board.
The dead LEDs really are a deal breaker though. I am super, super worried. I'm just praying deeply that they have enough RMA units to be able to replace my dead board. I will be sickeningly disappointed if all they can offer is a refund due to lack of remaining stock, because I really want to keep using this keyboard for quite some time.
I'm also really sad about my serial number. The one I got ended up being really special to me (the first year I started using mechanical keyboards). If I get a replacement unit, I'm obviously not going to be able to continue using this serial number, because it will be a completely different board.
EDIT 2: I'm really disappointed and quite sad to have to share this, but another problem has just some to light on this board. I noticed it before but didn't really think much of it. The polarity of the magnets is incorrect on one of the feet/board combos on my board. Instead of securely snapping in place like the other magnet, this one only snaps in on one side, and are repulsed at the other end.
EDIT 3: My mistake, it's not the magnetic polarity that is the issue here, I've looked closer, and there is actually a physical defect on the larger magnet on the board the physically prevents the foot from seating in place completely. At this point, that is FIVE defects that should have been easily discovered in QC. This board was basically sent to me in unsaleable condition.
EDIT 4: Not that it even matters since I am not sure I would even use this feature, but there is also another one of these defects on the magnets for the reverse incline function. I don't use the reverse mode and can't imagine that I ever would, but it should still be without defect. The keyboard I currently have has no resale value with the amount of issues it has.

Urano_MetriaHaving all the same issues, and massdrop hasn't even responded back, might have to contact my credit card company.

TikiTillmanI'll give them a few business days to reach an acceptable resolution (by me) before I contact my bank. One thing remains true though, I WILL NOT be left out $200 on this during any part of the process. They can give me a steep discount/partial refund on this current board, or they can send me a replacement BEFORE I send this one back rather than after.

Urano_MetriaIts a bit late, but can you let me know how Massdrop resolved the issue with you? I stupidly did not check my board when it first arrived, but i have now discovered PCB issues. My Left CTRL and right Windows key don't register. I'm annoyed, because as you said, unnecessary wear and tear to my switches. And I'm pretty sure Massdrop is going to make me pay for return shipping too. sigh

My replacement CTRL gets here on Tuesday. It looks to me that they knew they were going to have some future drops on the CTRL (like it going right now), and they laid low until they got the shipment for the current drop, then sent out the replacements for us who are having issues a couple of days before they opened it up for purchase again.
I'm happy to be getting my replacement CTRL. While I was initially extremely pissed off at the lack of response for almost a week, they were very kind and understanding when they did get back to me, so I am not too upset about that anymore. While I was initially extremely pissed off about the lack of transparency on how and when they will acquire replacements to send to us, I now understand that they were planning on dropping the CTRL again in a couple weeks and I understand that they can't really divulge information to people about future drops. Not really mad about that any longer either.
Despite the defects with my CTRL that I currently have, it's still the best keyboard I have ever used. Although in all honesty I can't really say how much of that is due to the relatively rare Kailh BOX Jade switches I've slapped in it. For what it's worth, I would still highly recommend this keyboard considering how much I've already used it and how my problems were handled in the end.
When they re-opened the CTRL drop a couple days ago I saw that the barebones version was in stock again, and even before receiving my replacement board I bought a second CTRL to use at the office. That alone should speak how much I enjoy it even having only ever used a broken CTRL. I am still a bit salty about the second CTRL I bought that. Literally less than 24 hours after my transaction went through I received the email about the Massdrop CTRL High-Profile dropping on Monday.
I have asked them if they will allow me to return the second CTRL I bought and join that drop instead. I haven't received a response yet, but I have done a lot of thinking about it. It might be better to have two CTRLs now instead of one now, and then a new high-profile sometime in the next summer. I will probably end up not returning my second CTRL, joining the High-Profile drop anyway, and then selling the spare CTRL when the High-Profile actually ships.
Apologies for the long comment. I just can't help but completely speak my mind as much fun I have typing on these Jade switches.
