It's been 6 months since I returned my double tapping CTRL and I find myself still wanting a hot swap keyboard. Looked back in here and it's disappointing to see that after such a long period of time Drop still has not fixed the issue beyond "oh try this community provided tweak that makes it go away... mostly... sometimes... maybe". Shouldn't they identify and fix the underlying cause of the problem instead of continuing to sell a broken product when they don't even know where it's broken?

MingIf ever they give any kind acknowledgement of this issue.... Then everyone will return their keyboard. So, they always will deny.

SokolumWe do acknowledge the issue. The root cause has not been identified yet, but the overwhelming majority of cases are Halo switches with the CTRL.

Not Halos here, Kaihua Speed Silver (Linear) Don't sell a premium, $200 keyboard that hasn't gone through quality assurance. Worse than vaporware. Notice how there aren't any typos, this was typed on a $20 keyboard.

I was double tapping on Zealios and I stated this previously. Searching through the comments, many users have reported the problem persisting with other switches. Perhaps your Halo + CTRL case is "overwhelming" because the majority of CTRLs went out with Halos installed? Just a thought...

MingWe've sold a lot of CTRLs with other switches. And while we have sold many more CTRLs than ALTs, there have been disproportionately few reports of chatter on the ALT. I'm not saying anything is conclusive, but we are not ignoring this issue.

Yeah, you are ignoring the issue, which is very obviously runs of shit switches which have the same ghosting and chatter problems in other cases with other PCBs. Halo switches, for example, are renowned as entirely shit-- and you knew it from the start, and kept shipping them with the ctrl. So go lie somewhere else.

MingI am piggy-backing on this particular thread because I just recently experienced this same problem. I've had my CTRL HP for quite a while now, but kept it in the shelf for most of its life with me because I have a lot of other keyboards that I rotate in using. Now that it is this keyboard's turn (CTRL HP), I noticed the same double-tapping issue. I thought it can be fixed by changing the keyboard setting on Windows Control Panel, but sadly it didn't. Until I did a quick research about the issue and stumbled upon this thread. @Elbert Since this appears to be a widespread issue, can we have a separate thread or discussion about this? So that whatever solution you discover in the (hopefully near) future for this problem, we can be immediately notified. TIA.

arthurdI wouldn't hold my breath. Back when I was trying to fix my Ctrl, a community member suggested changing one value in the firmware. It wasn't a good fix since people reported mixed results with it. My point is that this value in the firmware was the first obvious place to look and it took this guy a matter of days to come up with the suggestion. Drop had been aware the problem for months prior and came up with nothing, this tells me they're weren't actually working on it. Since this firmware "fix" came about Drop has been pushing it as THE fix, even though it didn't work for a lot of people. Again, this says a lot. The Ctrl High Profile has just become available again. I really want one but they haven't even figured what's wrong with it.

MingOh fark, that is unfortunate. So far, here’s what I’ve read that have been done but did not work:
  • Swap switches
  • Upgrade/tweak firmware
  • Clean keyboard/switches/keycaps
  • Update keyboard settings on Windows
I don’t know what else to do. 😔

arthurdCan't fix something when you don't know what is wrong with it. I would send it back.

MingWhat does the warranty look like for the boards? 1 year? I am outside the United States, so I am not sure how that affects the warranty. I might need to send support an inquiry about this.

arthurdI'm also outside the US and Drop sent me a prepaid shipping label to return it. At least their support is good. I don't know about the warranty period, you'd have to talk to Drop about that.

The problem persists with any switches you use. People have been telling you that for years now. Try again. You guys aren't looking for anything, you're just selling knowingly defective merchandise, come out and say it.

PigmonkeYI think its worse than that. I think they are waiting out peoples warranties. I contacted support again and they basically said I'm out of warranty and theres nothing they will do. Even though I've had this keyboard for so long its been basically unusable for the majority of its life. I don't know about anyone else but at this point I'm not buying anything else from Drop. @Elbert it would be helpful for me and probably others if Drop was transparent about the issue and what steps are being taken to reach a solution. If Drop is truly committed to fixing this issue then reassure people who supported this keyboard from the beginning that regardless of the warranty status Drop will make it right. In the meantime, if you've bought this keyboard and have the chattering issue, please leave a 1 star review and note the chattering issue in the review. This is the only way we can make Drop understand the situation is unacceptable and warn interested customers to be wary of the problem before they make what I'm calling a "$200 learning experience."

delianidesMassdrop is a perfect example of what happens when a bunch of kids from california get 40M+ in VC funding because they "totally have cousins in china who do manufacturing" I also got a bunch of swaps for units with identical problems before support just stopped replying altogether. I'm pretty sure it's very illegal to sell knowingly defective merchandise. One can only hope someone comes for them soon.

MingDude, fuk buying another hot swappable board from here since the QC isn't good. I just bought a HS keyboard Xo V2 from monster. It has a 5 pin hot swappable board. At least I don't have to clip off the legs for any 5 pin switch anymore.

roDDinInteresting. Can't find much info on it though. Someone on Reddit said you can only turn off the lighting through software (no way to do it with physical key presses). Another person said you need some kind of account to access the proprietary keyboard programming software. Can you share your experiences?
