Hey folks, My new CTRL board tends to drop power briefly, regardless of what USB port I use. A brief description of the issue: my board will briefly power down (lights go out, inputs don't register) and power back up within a second or two (prompting my PC audio for a device being connected). The issue very much resembles if I were to unplug and replug in the keyboard, with the LEDs going back to the default rainbow setting. Is this a known issue with the newer boards or user error? I've read about this being an issue with the first run of these boards and have also read that this issue can occur if using a USB 2.0 port. I have tried both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports with the same results. Is there another setting I need to adjust? I'm on a Windows 10 desktop, if that matters. Thanks!

MeimAre you using the included cable? Do you have a powered USB hub you can try?

Yes, I am using the included cable. I do have a powered USB hub, but it wouldn't be my ideal way of using the board. I should also add that I've unchecked the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option for USB devices and "Human Interface Devices" and am still having this issue.

MeimPlease try it with a powered hub and see if the issue persists. Is there a pattern to when the keyboard loses power (e.g. when certain applications are running)?

Will do. I'll let you know what I find. And no, I haven't noticed any particular recurring patterns with regards to when the keyboard drops power. I imagine I always have Chrome open, but nothing notable besides that. I've had this occur when gaming, when not gaming, with just Chrome open, etc.

MeimI’m having the same issue, seemingly random, roughly one second-long disconnects while gaming. Keyboard is plugged into the PC directly and no powered USB hub to test with.

NineStoneGolemDoes the issue persist with the LEDs turned off?

I might have solved my issue, originally had it plugged into a USB 2 port, swapped it to a USB 3 and haven’t had it disconnect yet. Will test lights if it drops again.

I've been trying it with a powered hub for the past two days and there doesn't seem to be any power drops or disconnects. When I initially plug it in though, the LEDs seem to be at near-minimum brightness (without the ability to turn up or down the brightness), but if I unplug and plug it back it, it seems to be restored to maximum brightness. Is this intended behavior? That I need to use a powered USB hub to properly power the keyboard?

MeimYou don't necessarily need a powered hub, you just need a port that supplies enough power to the keyboard. If the output from your motherboard is being split between too many devices, the keyboard may not get enough power. A powered USB hub simply guarantees that the keyboard gets a dedicated 5V output.

MeimIf you're using a desktop with specially-marked "powered USB ports" those will work great. (some OEMs call them "charging ports" and some OEMs mark them as red USB ports, though that was recently reused for USB 3.1 Gen 2) USB3 ports are a good bet, too.
