I am new to mechanical keyboard world and I was so damn close to purchase this keyboard after buying 6 out of 10 sets of the MiTo GMK Laser last week.. But I realized that there may be a big issue present in this keyboard which I saw in many discussions and reviews from YouTube and reddit: KEY CHATTER. Aside from the not so diffused lights that go around the keyboard which I would gladly accept this flaw.. Key chatter is seriously a big no go (Functionality first then Aesthetics). I am not discouraging people from buying this board. I would really love to recommend them, but for those who intend to buy, please be aware of this issue, the risk you have to take and think twice. I even pray and hope that I am the lucky few who manage to get a board with no key chatters if I decide to buy it. But this is really too big a gamble to take. I am also afraid of getting a b-stock keyboard without my knowledge and go through all the hassle of asking for a replacement or refund. I seldom comment on all this discussions and stuff. But I just want to say that, after searching high and low for my first TKL, hot swappable, RGB per switch, RGB underglow, USB C, QMK software, Windows-Mac compatible (not really sure if Drop CTRL has this functionality) keyboard, I am brought back here. I even gave up on including Bluetooth 5.0 in my requirements. This is really such a huge pity for Drop. I really really hope that they can rectify this issue ASAP and I will really purchase this keyboard straightaway. Just take my money. Before this happens, I will not buy any other mechanical keyboard. Yes I only have keycaps and no keyboard. I even got the S-CRAFT Gengar keycap recently. What a waste man. All hyped up for a new hobby and keyboard but there is no right product in the market. This post is not intended to blame anybody. Thanks for hearing my rant. Would appreciate if anyone can suggest any alternatives.

lostinthelibraryI got a CTRL as part of the original run (<1000 serial, too) and experienced key chatter, but that was the switches. At first I got a partial refund to just replace the affected switches but when it got worse, Massdrop arranged for advanced RMA via FedEx, meaning I got to check the replacement before shipping my original to them, and it got here (Israel) very fast. (Compared to DHL Global Mail that took 1-3 weeks) That was really great of them, especially because not many international shops offer proper RMAs and cover them. The replacement keyboard had a few bad switches several months later but this all turned out to be the fault of Kailh's QC -- I bought Kailh Pro Purples (that I wanted to use either way) and those experienced the same degradation over time as the Kailh-manufactured Halo Clears my CTRL(s) came with. I don't know if I was especially unlucky or if I'm a particularly heavy typist. Since then I switched to Gateron-made Aliaz 60g, and had maybe 1-2 bad switches 6+ months later. (And I'm still using the CTRL right now) So my point is: it looks like a lot of the key chatter issues with the Drop line is more to do with the Kailh switches than the keyboard itself. At the time I couldn't even find a single Cherry MX CTRL buyer who had key chatter problems. (I saw that you went with the Drop Alt HP, good choice! But I figured you'd still like to know what the key chatter issues amounted to)

lostinthelibrarySpeaking of which, I just received my Drop Alt HP. My very first mechanical keyboard!!! Feels 100% premium right out of the box. Still need to get used to the high profile nature and the spacing between the keys. But I would say that the 65% form factor is just nice. My room is generally bright in the day so couldn't really see the RGB effect on the keyboard (I think this is not too huge a concern). The underglow is so damn sick btw. And the weight of this is just so satisfyingly heavy. Due to its weight, it is quite hard to accidentally shift it which is good. So these are my very first review about this. Hope that the key chatter issue will not come and find me in the future. Gonna try it on my mac later on. Currently on windows. I am OVER THE MOON with this. The first impression took me off my feet. Can't wait for my GMK MiTo laser keycaps. The keycaps on these were just ok only. Can't really see the legends very clearly under bright conditions though.. Nonetheless, still a great product AT THE MOMENT.

smileybarryHey! Did you have to pay any customs when buying the keyboard?

Kron98If your country charges customs on imports then you might need to. It varies, Israel charges customs but they didn't charge me for the keyboard or almost all of my Drop packages. (the last Oblivion extras were my first import duty charge from Drop) But I did have to pay import fees when it was via FedEx, DHL, UPS, etc. So I guess it depends on how attentive your post office/carrier is?
