Great for the price
Generally pretty good at the price. Low distortion and decent detail. Closed version is better than the open IMO.

The best closed back headphones you can get under $500
They feel strong and durable yet are the lightest headphones I own. They are closed back yet the shape and materials used have never made me uncomfortable even after hours of use. They are a bit quiet due to their sensitivity but will run on practically anything with such a low impedance. I own 4 headphones currently, Sennheiser 6xx's, Hifiman Sundaras, Meze 109 Pros, and these. I could easily get rid of my sennhesiers and my hifimans and be happy with these as my closed-back headphones and my mezes as my open-back. These Aeon Closed X headphones are nearly on par with my mezes but are about half the price. If I had to say one thing wrond about these it would only be the amount of soundstage they produce but honestly, it's expected of closed-back headphones to have less than open-backs. Otherwise, these are the best you can buy for the price, even the cord is decent for a stock cord.

Great sound, light weight. But petroleum odor that hasn't dissipated.
I received these in December, but I haven't been able to use them much. I might have just got a stinky pair, I don't know if this is typical for the product. I'm not finding other complaints in the reviews here. If I just try to ignore the smell, I get a sore throat and stuffy nose for the rest of the day. I've left them to air out for a couple months now, but still can't spend much time with them. Good sound and very light and comfortable. If it weren't for the irritating odor, I could wear these all day. Not heavy bass, but good frequency response. Good imaging, but you know they're closed back. Excellent passive sound isolation. Bottom line: I should have returned these, but I like the sound. I've been hoping the smell would go away, but it hasn't. If they did not smell, I'd love them.

ClaytonJDon't know if this will help but when I buy cheap Chinese stuff it usually comes with a chemical smell on it. Out of paranoia I gently wipe it down with a cloth or tissue dampened with warm water to get (what I assume is) chemical residue off the surface of the product. IDK if that will make a difference here but might be worth trying if nothing else worked.

Very Large
These headphones are the best I've ever owned. The materials quality, the sound, and the price are all excellent. However, you can't really use these if you're planning on leaving the house. Every time that I do so I feel like I look insane lol

Not so impressed....
I purchased these to upgrade from my Beyerdynamic 700 Pro X. However, to my ears the sound quality is only just okay, and definitely NOT better than the Beyers. In addition, the flexible headband/"spring" assembly that ties the ear pieces together, while not uncomfortable, in my opinion makes the Aeon feel fragile. Not a good feeling to have about such an expensive item.

Great Sound and the Best Comfort!
Sound on my FiiO R7 is great through the Aeon Closed X, but the comfort is unmatched, I could wear these for days at a time.

Comfortable, Detailed Closed Backs
Closed backed headphones are a necessity for me living in a city apartment so I don’t disturb my family when I listen late at night. With the Aeons I don’t feel like I am sacrificing. The detail is fantastic with a nice neutral sound signature, They are very well built, nice and lightweight, really comfortable. For a closed back in this price range they are what I would recommend.

My first planar!
Love them. I also own the Sennheiser HD 6XX, and of course both are very different beasts. The Aeon need power to shine. I run them with a balanced cable and a stack of SMSL SU-9 and SMSL SH-9. I also use gain control to boost the signal a bit. That's all I need for casual listening. Overall, I keep coming back to them daily. Oh, they also look great!

Fantastic
Update after 3 months: Sound has really broken in and is just fantastic. Very happy to have upgraded. Can wear these for hours with little to no fatigue. --- Bought these to replace my AT-MX50's (which I've liked for years) after I saw that Schiit was selling them bundled with a headphone amp. I like their products so I figured that was the endorsement needed. I've been listening to these Dan Clarks for the past week. I thought they were a decent upgrade up until I decided to listen to my MX50's again. As soon as I put those on my head was uncomfortable, the audio sounded less clear and not nearly as engaging. Now I only want to listen to the Dan Clarks. Super comfortable for long sessions of great sounding music.

Great sound, great build feels but packing could have been better
sounds spacious and great tuning, but the box could have been better packed with more supports to protect the headphones better especially at this price point
