Can someone please explain why there are significant differences between this FR graph and the AEON RT graph that Dan Clark provided in a HeadFi thread? I thought they were supposed to be the same headphone. The AEON Closed RT is the green line in the graph Dan Clark provided and AEON X Closed is the solid black line in the other graph. My concern is the 4k dip and the dropoff starting at 5k in the measurements Dan provided compared to the Drop measurements. Which one is correct? Could someone help explain these differences? I want to buy the headphone but am a little worried based on the measurements provided by Dan. I like my treble fuller and I thought the Aeon Closed X was going to change that based on Drop's measurements but now I don't know.

sherm137With pads in or out? black or white pad in. Audio science review indicated that taking the white pad out increased the treble frequency.

sherm137Couple of things. First off, looks like Dan's measurements are expected to be different from Head-Fi's as he mentioned in this thread: "A critical note; the high frequencies on our specific ear/coupler tend to measure very flat where most GRAS pina couplers roll off and follow the Harman. Using the coupler and Pina Head-Fi uses would cause our highs to track the Harman curve. Knowing this, it's pretty easy to see just how close this tracks from 20-5,000Hz, but if we used the same pina/coupler as Head-Fi I'm pretty sure this'd track the whole way." https://www.head-fi.org/threads/good-riddance-2020-sale-15-off-most-headphone-models.950185/page-2#post-16055337 Secondly, when the Aeon RT Closed launched, they did not come with the perforated pads (like the Aeon RT Open did). But both the Closed X and Open X come with the newer perforated pads. I know, they're mainly supposed to only bring down the mids and make the headphones more V-shaped, but there's that difference too that makes comparison of that Green curve to the Black one that much more difficult.
