Super light and easy to erect
I love how light it is, weighs nearly nothing in my pack. Had no issue erecting once I got used to how it works. the one thing I wish was different was the durability of the floor. It feels very flimsy and I’m worried about tearing it on rocks or sticks. And it’s a hassle to need a seperate groundsheet. Wouldn’t have minded a few extra grams to have a durable groundsheet. other than that it works great

omcnoeGlad you're liking the tent. The floor fabric is a tough one. I agree with you that needing a separate groundsheet is a hassle and adds weight, where a more durable floor is better than a less durable floor that requires a groundsheet. With the X-Mid I've tried to do this (make the floor durable enough to use without a groundsheet) but it's a tricky thing because some people need more durable floors than others for a variety of reasons (e.g. what type of ground they camp on, if there are sharp pine needles, how much are they are willing to take to groom a site, etc). The X-Mid uses a 20D floor fabric, whereas lightweight tents in general use 7 - 30D fabrics. Most mainstream "ultralight" tents use 15D floors (less durable than the X-Mid) with some using 10D and even 7D (e.g. Nemo Hornet Elite). So the X-Mid floor is more durable than most tents in this weight class, and I think it's durable enough to use without a groundsheet (e.g. I never use one). But others that camp on harsher surfaces may disagree. A 30D floor would help a bit, but it's not until you get up to 70D that you're really getting into a floor where you don't even have to think about it - but we can't practically use 70D because 20D is already durable enough for most people where switching to 70D would add so much weight it would make the tent uncompetitive. So I've tried to strike that balance of keeping the tent light while making the floor durable enough to use without a groundsheet for most people, but certainly some people will prefer a groundsheet. I'm in the early stages of trying to design one that would be offered as an accessory and would clip to the 4 corners of the floor so that it can be left attached to the inner to save that setup hassle. I hope to have that ready by spring.

dandurstonGround sheet accessory sounds like a great idea, I’d love to get one. I’ll look out for it. I just really want to be able to use the inner in rougher and rocky conditions with-ought tearing it to shreds.

dandurston@dandurston, I would be in for a ground sheet, and would like to be able to purchase separately, as I already have the tent. Same goes for the 2P as well.
jmk451I’m working on developing these. Should have them by spring at DurstonGear.com
