It has been such a fulfilling endeavor to develop the Drop Ibara Slim Rinse. It’s a benchmark jean and stands up to anything - period. We made these jeans in Japan of completely Japanese materials, because there’s no other place on the planet that has, on the whole, taken denim to such a high level. The denim, hardware, and construction are exquisite. Both modern and classic, the fit is spot on, and it's designed for a comfortable break-in with a nice roomy top block and an elegant taper down the selvedge out-seamed leg. I can't wait for our community to get into these and all the stories both they, and their jeans, will tell.
john.webbThe details and little touches on these pants look amazing!

john.webbSizing is rediculous not even close to the rest of the world. Figure your sizing issues out and send people return shipping labels with the package. Good try but you failed on this one I've never been this disappointed with an online seller/purchase. Really just seems like the owner has no clue how to run a business they found a sweatshop to make some clothes and got a dropshipping company to sell them.
Ryante Very sorry for your sizing issue. Did you happen to use the measurement chart as suggested? Not too sure how we could have done you such a dis-service, but I would like to help you get the right pair. If you are not happy with the quality - I'm not so sure there's much better we can do - because this is an incredibly made pair of jeans in one of the best denim factories anywhere. We are not just finding a sweatshop somewhere and drop-shipping them - we spent over a year investigating factories in person in Japan, sourcing the best raw materials, developing the construction techniques, working with amazing denim developers and fit experts to bring these jeans to market at an incredible price. Again - very happy to help you with the fit - just let me know what size you are in your favorite style / brand of jeans and we can get started.

john.webbI keep looking at these jeans drops, but EVERY time they are skinny fit. Some of us have legs that aren't atrophied little sticks, you know. I have to get Levi's 501 jeans in size 38 to fit my legs, then end up with a ton of fabric bunched up around my waist where it is too loose. PLEASE make some "relaxed fit" jeans for the normally built humans who feel claustrophobic in these awful skinny jeans. "Tapered" is still way too skinny. Seriously, I know many other people here feel the same way: give us what we want.
bodrell These are NOT skinny jeans - I would call them more of a 'relaxed-slim' - specifically relaxed in the top block for more comfort from top of thighs to knee - so there is more room for athletic builds. Maybe check out to some satisfied reviewers and what they have said about the fit (those that have gotten the correct size - if you need any guidance getting the correct size, please reach out to me). If you are convinced that you want a bigger relaxed fit straight leg, I can't promise you that Drop is going to make one soon. For whatever it's worth, I prefer a more relaxed straight fit and even with the 100's of jeans I own , I still rock a pair of the Ibara's and find them very comfortable with my soccer/rugby quads.

bodrellSome people have skinnier legs; other have thicker legs (whether due to muscle or fat or both). Both are fine and normal, and a variety of cuts of jeans exist precisely because no one cut is going to suit every body type. Descriptions like “atrophied little sticks” and “normally built humans” don’t get us anywhere.

tegeus-CromisIf "a variety of cuts of jeans exist" were true I wouldn't have a problem. Point me to just ONE example of a jeans drop with a cut for thicker legs. I've been on this site twice as long as you and have yet to see one, but I'll be happy to be proven wrong. The fact is that even the "relaxed" cut jeans on (Mass)Drop wouldn't fit on most people who bike or run.

bodrellI agree—Drop really does a bad job of catering to diverse body types. I am only taking issue with your descriptions. The problem is lack of representation of body types, not that other people have “atrophied little sticks”.
bodrellhey Bodrell - sorry you feel this way. What jeans do you wear that have a good fit for your body? And whats you waist & mid-quad measurement?

john.webbHi John. The only pants I've found that actually fit me (particularly my legs) are Carhartt relaxed fit. My waist is 36", thighs are 23.5", and the Carhartts are 38" x 32" (so I still need a belt). Even going a waist-size up from 36" to 38", my thighs barely fit when knees are at right angles. I hope you can offer something that fits me one day.
bodrellMe too! We did close down the Style Category, so might be under a new iteration + I had been working on another relaxed fit - maybe that will surface one day! Maybe more expensive than your accustomed, but maybe not, have you ever tried a Levis LVC 1966 501? I have a 35" Waist with 24" thighs, those do a good job for me. You may be able to find those on ebay / grailed. Incidentally - the Ibara's do fit me and my thighs - I am wearing a size 35 as I type, they are spot on (they were a little tight in the beginning - but they are loose now). I think a 37 or 38 would work for you. You can return and I would be happy to stick by you until you got the right size. Jeans are tough to fit into at times - especially with how much a raw 100% cotton pair changes.

john.webbThanks for the suggestions. At this point, after years of frustration looking for adequate pants, I'm certainly willing to consider more expensive jeans - if indeed they do fit.

bodrellAnother good option to consider is the Naked & Famous Easy Guy fit. You can get N&F at below $90 if you wait for sales.

john.webbI know this probably won't get read, but wanted to say thank you for the work you did on this drop. The jeans are great, so good that I ordered a second pair for when the first pair wears out. I measured my best fitting jeans and ordered based on the sizing chart. These are probably the only pair of denim I have that I can wear without a belt comfortably. The fit well in the thigh region, not overly loose or tight. They are generous in the crotch area to where they don't bind. They were rough to the touch initially but breaking in great with a few full days of wear. I see myself enjoying these for years to come. Side note, I miss the style drops. All I get now are suggestions for knives, watches, tents (all nice but seemed like the same things over and over) and for some strange reason a plethora of mechanical keyboards (which I have absolutely no interest in). I had picked up the Raleigh denim (2 pairs) the N&F stretch, the N&F black stretch, and now 2 pairs of this Drop denim. I hope you are hat someday, more style type drops will..... Drop. Thanks again, Greg
AlfatrooperRead and very much appreciated Greg. The jeans are incredible. I hope you pick up some pairs on the Warehouse site to have for future supply. I miss the Style side as well. Stayed tuned - who knows?

john.webbOrdered a size 34 just now. Did the opposite of everyone else and lost some weight during this pandemic, so fingers crossed they'll fit. Will let you know, since I'm a picky customer re. jeans.
bodrellPlease do!

Dec 10, 2020
john.webbSo it's been about a week now with the new jeans (10 Dec. 2020). They are a bit snug in the thighs, but fit about perfectly for the calves. I've never had tapered jeans before, and it's strange that I have to pull down the fabric around my calves to take the pants off, but that observation is more novel than negative. The size 34 waist is still a bit large for me — 32 or 33 would be perfect — but if the waist were any smaller I doubt my thighs wouldn't fit at all. Right now I am frustrated by lack of mobility when squatting down or otherwise bending at the knee, but that seems like something that will improve as I break them in. I have noticed improvement in the fit even in just a week, so am hopeful. Definitely not disappointed in these jeans, and depending on how they wear over the next few months I might even get another pair. That decision will largely be based on whether I get more space in the thighs, where the fabric is practically painted on. I'd consider going up to 35 just to get more thigh room (and maybe fit my phone in the front pocket comfortably). Will update in a few months.
bodrellhey Bodrell - I am almost 100% sure they will let go for you and loosen up in the thigh and calf with time. My immediate thoughts are if you spent a half day helping somebody move or yard work or any type of leg-bending exertion they will open up quickly. Also, if you wanna get experimental, mist or sponge dab (clean sponge - clean water) pant legs until they are lightly damp and take a hike or sit on a dark un-dyeable chair (indigo crocks and bleeds - caution!) until the jeans are mostly dry. Any of these paths should get you to be in a more comfortable place. There is always the option of getting an eating pair and belt up with the Size 35. I think you're good with the 34 - with this 100% cotton twill pant worn un-belted and a little more wear. And just my opinion - cell phone's RF radiation has proven to be unhealthy - careful what you put it next to! Thanks for your purchase. I'm here & happy to help you get the fit your looking for!

john.webbJust going to add, I would be interested in a Flat Cap/newsboy hat drop :D Has Drop (or Massdrop) done hats before?
EvshrugI suggest a Borsalino Flat Cap - we wont be doing any hats soon.

john.webbTwo weeks later (22 Dec. 2020): Just bought two more pair at size 34 (same as before) and 32. So did the opposite of your suggestion to get an "eating pair." Reason being, I saw multiple reviewers mention they could wear these jeans without a belt. At size 34, I still need a belt although they fit well everywhere else. So those are already my eating pair. Size 32 will be my aspirational jeans; after seeing how they stretch over less than a month, I'm pretty sure they'll fit after break-in, especially if I dampen the waistband. Very glad I took the plunge and tried these out, and also glad to pick them up at $70 each. I plan to eventually write a review, but might wait until they fade a bit so I have photos to post.

tegeus-CromisThanks for the Naked & Famous suggestion. The size 32 Ibara jeans are perfect at the waist, but I'm not sure if they'll open up enough in the thigh area. The Easy Guy jeans from N&F (arrived yesterday), however, are PERFECT at size 32 at my waist, thighs, and everywhere else. I picked up the Toxic Avenger Deformed Denim, and they are really attractive pants.
