so good job on releasing another cool collab! -new drop logo on the pivot is a much classier design element -overall knife design is something completely new to drop knife collabs -use of shredded carbon fiber (hell yeah, new handle material options!) -anodized pocket clip (cherry on top of everything else) but, the question remains, why s35vn? theres hundreds of premium steels you can use, but you constantly stick with this one? i'd be happy to even see a downgraded steel, as long as its different. also, pricing is confusing for what you are getting. a g10 version of this knife is the same as the falcon base model, starting price. and it definitely looks like more work was done on the falcon's blade and handle since its full titanium frames, internal stop pin, and a lock bar insert (this is probably carbidized titainum, which works fine like the gent, but is a lot less work).

method_burgerWell these knives are marketed towards normies. So can we really expect them to use proper steels like m390/s110v/MMax/Rex? I guarantee you 99% of people who are buying these knives are just buying them because they are made out of titanium and that they look “cool”. Why do you think they even added a bottle opener? Typical “I think I’m cool for buying this because everybody else thinks it’s cool, but I have no idea what I’m doing/no clue about metallurgy/treat. Don’t even know how to sharpen a blade” my kershaw chill dusts these overpriced titanium clunkers even, let’s not go into my naka m390 or s110v manix/native, eyeing native 5 maxamet/Rex. 🤔

League544i dont think normies spend 100$+ on a knife..... unless they're rich normies that fall for marketing hype? after a decade of knife collecting/sharpening, i couldnt care less about steel, especially 'super steels'. more important factors to performance are a properly heat treated, grind and ergos. and as someone who enjoys sharpening knives, premium steels last too long in everyday edc. i dont think i'll ever get a rex121 knife or maxamet. i dont want to wait 3 years to sharpen my knives! -my edc steel preferences these days are mid-range steels, like vg-10, d2, 440c, 12c26, or carbon steels. and kershall chill is awesome, and still stands toe-to-toe as a great budget option! mine is now 11 years old.

League544oh yeah, and if you stroll down in the discussion section, the possible reason for the bottle opener is eric ochs designed that. its an actual feature from the maker. i dont get it either. it throws off all the lines, and i think that opening hole up front can be used pretty effectively as a bottle opener with a proper sharp chamfer.

method_burgerI know what you’re saying, but I just need 1 or 2 good knives. I’m not big into collecting a bunch of mid tier knives. In a way, I completely agree with you because I feel like it’s very difficult to notice a difference between these steels. But still... if the shit hits the fan I wanna know I have the best steel in my pocket. It’s just a consumerist be thing, but it gets me hard, really hard, for some reason. Yesterday I bought a Beta Ar jacket (600+ bucks) for only 350, new with tags. Did I NEED a 600 dollar rain jacket? No, but my 50 dollar Columbia Jacket (water tight 2, high end looking jacket) I bought the other year is giving me issues already and you can tell why these jackets costs what they cost.

League544haha, i heard that SHTF theory - statistically unlikely to be stranded for more than 3 days, so have a knife with 3 days of edge retention, instead of a knife you can field sharpen. personally, i just bought a folding saw and shears, to mitigate using a knife for everything. and as i usually have enough food/water for 3 days, i'm hoping i wont have to learn hunting on the fly lol. but i still want a bark river... one day. i get your jacket thing. its hard to find a good jacket nowadays, and the good ones always cost a minimum 100$. if i find a jacket i like, i almost never hesitate to buy it. if its on sale, even better! also, colombia used to be a low quality brand, they just did some marketing hype around it, which is why it got so popular in the last 10 years (thanks to the tech world) sort of like doc martins (get the old ones and resole them, before most of their manufacturing moved to china)
