I like it. Wish the handle had even 1/8" more length, but its still almost 1/4" longer than the Falcons, which was ALMOST BUT NOT QUITE big enough for my sausage fingers to properly grip. Very frustrating, because I otherwise really liked the knife.
Colors on the Buc...well, actually I can't tell, at least the first two grey/blue options. The bronze looks nice and is probably my pick, but I'd think more pics are forthcoming, yeah?
Price point @ $115 is 10% or maybe even 15% below what I'd expect to pay for this knife if I walked into BladeOps or BladeHQ; $125 is still a good deal, though Id have gladly made the price $125 now going to $135 for another 1/4" of Ti for the handle. But I knoe $125 is a psychological barrier that many knife buyers wont exceed (once upon a time, many months ago, I tood would have thought 125 outlandishly higha price for a knife. Now it seems totally reasonable...for the first of three or four layaway payments).
The only problem: est ship date = 8/31??? Are you out of your mass droppin', ferrum forgin' minds? You honestly think I can wait that long? Ive bought knives with oddly colored scales, or skipped purchases entirely, just because I wasnt willing to wait the 36hrs for a knife to be shipped from the surplus warehouse in VA. Im going to have to think about this one...
FYI, knife afficianados: the best example, in my opinion, of the Boker kwaiken; i.e, the BladeOps exclusive w/ marbled carbon scales and duplex-ground, satin blade is on sale for $99 for 24 hrs, obviously at BladeOps. Im in no way affiliated w/ them, other than being a local customer who has been treated like a king by those dudes at the shop; and i really do think their kwaiken is the best of the bunch, so Im passing it along. Go get one, they're outstanding. Very smooth action and a great look.

HatuletohYou're not getting a titanium and S35VN WE knife for under $200 under any circumstances other than the one where a group of us pays up front for an entire run of the knives. Actually the Boos Smoke/Mini Aero are a great example, they are the only Ti+S35VN WE knives I know of that cost under $240 and they're $200, and they are still sold on a limited availability preorder basis.
You have to recognize what's being sold here to really get the value they're offering, these would be $190-200 if they were sold at a regular retailer like BladeHQ or BladeOps. There's no way around it, we're lucky that Massdrop has coordinated these knives and worked it out in a creative way that allows us to basically Kickstart a full-quality WE knife for so little money.
Well worth four months to me, I've got other shorp pointy bois in the meantime.

OmniseedRespectfully, I believe you misunderstood a portion of what I said, or I misunderstood you. If so I apologize. To clarify:
I said I thought that the price of $115 was good, at least 10-15% better than you'd get at shops like BladeHQ. You gave an estimate for the price if they were selling the Buc of $190-200. I think we're both off, though you're much closer than me.
I'd never actually handled and really priced We products until this past weekend when I happened to be in BladeHQ. In short, at the top end is $350 collaboration with Elijah Isham, then there are dozens of Ti frame models running from about $270 to $225, and finally there are We's "budget" knives for between $100 and $125. Nothing in between save a cpl carbon scale versions that are still +$200.
The But doesn't quite have all the snazziness of the top-end Ti frame models, but its much closer to them than it is to the lower-end models, which are universally (I think) made of G10 and stainless. In other words, if this knife was rolled in w/ the rest of We's inventory, it would most likely be priced at...maybe $175 to $200? I think thats abour right. So this MD offer is an excellent price, maybe the best Ive seen since I've been buying through them.
As far as design goes, I PERSONALLY would have liked another 1/8 or better 1/4" of handle, even if it made the price jump to $125 or $140. But from a "mass appeal" perspective, doing what they had to do to keep it sub-$125 is understandable and wise: that amount is the "I-refuse-to-pay-that-much-for-a-knife" price-point for many people. I was just relating what I would have chosen had MD, etc. made me Grand Overlord of Knife Design. I put in my application for that job, but never heard back...
As for the shipping date, well, I still hate it and before I'd really thought about the great price, the delay might have been enough to scare me off the drop (I've had to just put the Perpetua out of my mind, and I need to opt out of reminder/update emails). My compliments to you if it truly doesn't annoy you--a knife afficianado who can tolerate well waiting for a new knife is rare. I think knives and their collection cause me to tap into the 10 yr old version of myself. And for the most part that's one of the things I like about collecting and using and debating knives--kind of feels like trading baseball cards and arguing about players and stats back in the day. But 10 yr old me is NOT the most patient little guy. Especially once he's actually paid for his toy.
