2 days into my trip to banff and one pole broke. Specifically, the metal tensioner that was halfway glued into the aluminum pole fell right out, preventing the pole from tightening.
It it looks like they just tried to glue the tensioning inserts to a smooth bored pole. Nothing for the glue to grab onto. Pretty serious failure point. The tensioner insert itself is textured, but the tolerances are so loose that it has nothing to bite into. No friction, just glue.
Other than that the poles worked well. I got two sets so the other set was fine. A failure of the same type wouldn't surprise me though.
Can these things be replaced?
