I was on the fence with this set, but I did a shitty photoshop job and I think this might be the perfect set for the Norbaforce Retro Refrigerator case.

Welcome to the future, 2077.
It's been three months since the start of Massdrop Community Keycap Set Design Contest, what an incredible journey. Once again, thanks to everyone in the community who voted for me. And to all the contestants who participated as well, you guys all made some amazing designs!

The entire idea of the keyboard was inspired by science fiction-themed user interfaces from films like Iron Man, Prometheus, and Guardians of the Galaxy. As a user interface designer, I challenged myself in creating the icons that are abstract but yet still being able to relate. While some I felt it is better to remain as text, giving it a balance to the entire keyboard.
The reason behind the changes from GMK to DSA was due to higher production cost. To bring the cost down to a more affordable price for everyone, we went ahead with DSA. Partially we heard that there were a few of you requested for DSA!
Lastly, big thanks to the Massdrop team who helped me out every step of the way in developing this Keycap set.
Do feel free to ask me any question, I will be sure to answer any of them with the knowledge I have so far.

Here is something that I mock it up, nothing set in stone yet! Just wanted to show you guys first.
Firstly Preonic, I'm not exactly sure about the default layout but here is what I got. Do correct me if I'm wrong or missing out anything significant.
As for Ergodox, I decided to go with all blanks but split into 2 set, not sure if it's allowed though. What I'm doing here is trying to kill two birds with one stone. Read some of your comments and didn't like the F keys. So what we got here...
Set 1 - 20x Black Blank 1/1 keys (For those who are not using Ergodox, you can get this to replace the F keys and other keys you wanted) Set 2 - 12x Black Blank 1.5/1.5 keys and 4x Blank Blank 2/2 keys (This will complete the whole Ergodox set)
Let me know your thoughts?

You're one guy though. Designers, manufacturers and MD (as a business) want mass appeal first, unique second. Plus, a set can both be massively appealing as well as unique (eg. Laser, the best selling GMK set of all time and 3rd overall only to Carbon and Granite).
PS: I absolutely agree with you in regards to criticism and how it should be handled, no question there. I'm only addressing the latter part of your comment.

VigrithI completely agree with everything you said, but I think we need to put this set in perspective. This wasn't an attempt at making a huge buy, this was a community design contest. I'm highly doubtful that MD thought a contest winner around Christmas was going to scratch the surface of the other high profile sets. That's why I'm happy for this, it gives us an environment where something truly unique can get produced that otherwise would just get passed over.
Laser was a good looking set, not my bag, but I can definitely appreciate the appeal. I would say it was far from unique though, just a different color. This set takes a fresh look at the legends.

I just wanted to say... reading comments and things I feel really bad for the designer and its more of the Toxic bs.. from the community. I firmly believe that everyone's opinion is valid. At the same time thought we don't always have to voice our opinion's special in negative way's. Designer was a first timer.. and people are giving him all types of crap in this Discussions and Review. This could turn off other designers from the community.. are just designers in general. I mean why put forth effort to do something when parts of the community will tear you apart over it. Its life but at the same time we need to stand back remember its a person behind things.

It's not bad design just because someone doesn't like it and in fact I think the polarizing nature of this set is proof of it's successful design. It's not trying to please everyone and it's trying to do something different, I applaud that. There is also nothing wrong with constructive criticism and trying to elevate the designers knowledge. However, to @HotRoderX 's point, some of these comments are just trying to make people feel bad. That doesn't make better products or benefit the community, that's just childish nonsense.

1. I would hardly call 180+ sales of a product that costs more than 100 dollars in two weeks low. Yes, other sets have performed far better but for a first showing from a new designer 180 on a base set is not bad at all.
2. Beauty is not objective and niche interest doesn't "prove" anything.

I would have bought it is it didn't come out in December. Christmas leaves me a little too poor to splurge on things I don't need. If the timing was different I think the sales would be better than they have been.
