Hey everyone, pretty excited to finally bring this unique keycap set back.
This was a pretty unique project from 2017 and I think it was really ahead of its time! The colors are great and all the custom legends are pretty unique but fit together nicely.
We had commissioned a unique piece of artwork from the talented ChasingArtwork for this set - it's something we hope to expand upon for future projects as well. So think of it as a teaser of sorts.
I also wanted to share some photos I've seen from a Chinese keyboard community - the photos taken for this set looks fantastic here.

Looking at the comments and reviews, it would seem a lot of people who bought this set have never owned anything from Signature Plastics before.
SP is a small company that bought out Comptec's old keycap business and molds. They use 70's era tech to mostly manufacture cash register and industrial caps. That's 99.9999% of their business, and they don't care about having appealing packaging, or appeasing consumers. Their whole custom keycap side gig could disappear tomorrow, and it wouldn't make even the tiniest impact on their bottom line. For them, we're lucky they humor us by accepting consumer projects like this. The one time they were forced to put their keycaps in fancy boxes (for SA Godspeed), it led to an almost year-long shipping delay. They just don't have the manpower or infrastructure in place for that, nor do they care to implement it. It's a distraction from their main business.
Their DSA line of keycaps was specifically designed as a cheaper, flimsier alternative to SA back in the 80's, when they were under pressure from Asian competitors. Yes, Drop and other vendors can commission custom DSA keysets like this one to resell, but these molds are really meant to be for budget cash register caps, manufactured with minimal plastic to cut costs. There will be sprue marks on every cap from those molds; they were just not designed to be pretty for consumers.
Their SA sets are much sturdier and robust, but even those will always ship loose in bags, and have mold markings. That's just how they roll, and it's not worth it to them to change their whole manufacturing system for hobbyists that make up an infinitesimal amount of their bottom line.

This is a really neat aesthetic, but I'm frustrated to see yet another ortholinear kit that doesn't have the option for a convex space bar.

I got mine, but it won't let me review. The font is ok, but inconsistent. The insides have patterns that are completely messed up. It doesn't even come in a holder, just a plastic bag, and I already see a few of the keys scratched during shipping. Who puts a 90-dollar set in a ziplock bag?

Hmm, playing Apex was not worth missing out on these I think. I actually really love that chunky font :(
