The Glycine Combat Sub is a favorite of the watch community. However, calls for a GMT hand have been echoing for years. It’s official: We’ve answered the call. The Drop + Glycine Combat Sub GMT is the first-ever Combat Sub with a GMT hand. This auxiliary fourth hand, together with the 24-hour bezel, allows the wearer to track a second time zone in a complete 24-hour cycle. What’s more, the watch features a throwback red-and-blue bezel you won’t find on any other existing Glycine model. Another notable addition is the reversion to the original Glycine logo and the exhibition caseback to showcase the 26-jewel GL293 movement. Crafted with a stainless steel case and a sapphire crystal, this timepiece works as hard in the depths of the ocean as it does in an important meeting.
Note: This watch comes on a stainless steel bracelet. At checkout, you can add an additional black leather strap (+ $36). For your early support, the Drop + Glycine Combat Sub “Soda” GMT Watch will be available at this limited-time preorder price of $589 until June, 2020. Once the product is in inventory, it will be available at the regular price of $629.
If you prefer a leather band over a stainless steel bracelet—or you like having options—we have you covered. At checkout, we’re offering a handsome black leather strap as an additional purchase. Made from calf leather, this elegant strap has a matte finish to pair well with any outfit. The cut is slightly tapered toward the buckle, creating an even more refined look.
Established in 1914 by Eugène Meylan, Glycine traces its roots back to Bienne, Switzerland, the watchmaking capital of the world. Originally, Glycine was a movement manufacturer, but during the 1930s it launched its own line of timepieces. Later, in 1953 came the debut of the well-known Airman line, a collection of GMT watches with 24-hour analog dials and rotating bezels, used frequently by military and commercial pilots. The 1960s saw the release of the Combat Sub, a diver that soon became the brand’s calling card—for good reason. Today, Glycine has expanded its lineup to include a wide range of timepieces, but it still operates out of its headquarters in Bienne, Switzerland.
