My device suddenly shows "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" and it's not working anymore. I have tried both USB 1.0 and 2.0 modes, different PC, and different USB cable, none of the worked :(
How can I connect it to my balanced SDAC?

It’s quite complicated. Basically to connect a Grace SDAC-B to a Grace SDAC-B you would need to output SE from the first SDAC-B into a ADC then output digital back into the second SDAC-B 😋

Actually it's not the power button. It's input selection, hence the wording below the button indicating USB or Digital and it shows a little symbol of the button pushed in or not. Hope it helps!

This may be a dumb question but is this capable of producing balanced audio with optical input?

Is this easy to connect with a Linux Mint 19 desktop. Are drivers available that does not need a PHD in Information Technology?

In USB 1 mode, I've used this DAC with a couple different linux desktops without issue. For USB 1 mode it should be 100% plug and play for nearly every distro, with drivers for PCM already baked in to the kernel for the last 10+ years or so. I've had some problems with getting USB 2 mode to play glitch-free in every distro, although it should also be plug and play. It's something about the XMOS interface that I've run in to with other SMSL DACs, too.
