Would like to make a post about my usage experience of TWS/1 bought at https://grellaudio.com/. (not TWS/1X) Pros:
  1. Sound is great! Seem to be on par (or even better) with Sony WF-1000XM3/4 (i had both).
  2. Microphones quality is exceptional. The best microphones among earphones i had. Voice is heard clear either in loud environments or strong gust
  3. Somehow secure fit (depends on eartips). Sony were either falling out (XM3) or breaking the ear canal (XM4). I tried a lot of eartips to make a good fit and noise isolation. Symbio W eartips (without foam, as the foam is not that soft, therefore causes pain) were the best choice so far among foam tips and SpinFit CP100.
  4. Best touch controls among everything i used. They are really similar to Sony WH-1000XM3/4.
  5. Robust case + wireless charging.
  6. Best earbud design so far.

Cons:
  1. SoundID profile has veeery boosted mid frequencies, despite the actual graph is V-shaped (support case with SoundID team is raised), therefore the stock sound is way better than any of the SoundID EQs because of that issue.
  2. Touch panels remain sensitive when earbuds are in case.
  3. Case does not indicate whether individual earbud is charging or not. Sometimes i open the case and realize that one of the earbuds is fully discharged.
  4. Ocassionaly, random earbud dies for no reason (quite often, i would say). Full reset fixes the issue. Touch controls are working, ANC/NAR/Transparency modes are still working for 'dead' earbud but mode toggle notifications or music don't play.
  5. There is no low-battery notification in the earbuds themselves. I often get caught by surprise, when listening to music or even talking to someone.
  6. I have to first unpair earbuds from one device to begin using them with another. Not really convenient.

Surprise: Didn't know that original TWS/1 does not have wingtips and case cavity for those. Was a bit frustrated in the beginning, but after i found proper eartips, this is not an issue anymore for me. Would recommend to mention this difference at https://grellaudio.com/

Summary Considering issues mentioned in Cons, these earbuds are still incredible because of sound, mics and touch controls. Hovewer, i believe these issues could be easily fixed by firmware updates. And after they are fixed, those buds will offer a way better quality and user experience in overall, than most of the flagship TWS earbuds.

pathf1nderThanks for the comments, pros and cons! Flattered by your overall positive experience with the quality and user experience! I also like the stock tuning. It takes a bit of time to get used to, just like any new headphone (whereas a self-set EQ can match whatever you are used to, and then you just hear the distortion characteristics of the driver), but for me it’s a warm smooth sound that doesn’t fatigue with long listening. With that said, I wonder if the mid frequencies are still boosted if you use the manual EQ? Thanks for contacting our support!

EvshrugThanks for the reply! Really appreciate it. Stock tuning is pretty nice tho and when i listened to my Sony WH-1000XM4, i realized that i like TWS/1 sound signature even more ^^ The mids overemphasis persist with either 'My SoundID' preset or the manual EQ. The weird thing is that the issue is present with any track, on any device, but it doesn't with SoundID demo tracks.
pathf1nderHmm, could be a bug, but this is the first I’ve heard of it (mine doesn’t seem to emphasize mids; though I do believe the stock tuning has a bit less than neutral emphasis on the upper mids I don’t believe this would explain an extreme change in SoundID).
pathf1nderFYI, we’re releasing a firmware update soon. It will do a couple of things, but even though it doesn’t specifically address your unique situation of “boosted SoundID mids,” I wonder if replacing the firmware with the new update will fix it? Regardless, glad you like the stock sound anyway, and the update will bring other benefits like standby battery life!

EvshrugHey! I would be happy to test that firmware and look if it fixes the issue. I'm very glad that you guys are working to make these buds even better. Kudos!
pathf1nderCheck the stickied post, we just relaxed firmware 2.8.0!

EvshrugGreetings. Many thanks for the update! I've been testing it for 3 days so far, and i have to say that the stability of the buds became better than ever before, which looks even more significant compared to 2.7.0, where earbuds were losing connection and even pairing information way more often, compared to older firmware versions. Throughout these 3 days i had only one occurrence of connection loss during use of the one earbud, however putting the bud into the case, closing it and then taking it back resolved the issue. Apart from that - no issues at all! Bluetooth connection stability, i.e. on a distance or through the walls has improved as well! Neither of earbuds changed sound of SoundID Preference test, which i was mentioning above, however that's not a big deal at all. Sometimes when i press on a a front side of the eartip of the Left earbud (or trying to apply some force when inserting it into the case, so that eartip cuddles to the bottom of the case) it starts humming, quite loud and strange. Sometimes that even happens inside of my ear, when i try to push earbud further into the ear. Still waiting for low battery voice notification on the buds, and ability to switch connection to a new device without the need to prior disconnect from the current one :P

pathf1nderWelp, it seems it was too good to be true. Left earbud does not respond to touch controls (but still play music), therefore both ANC/Transparent modes and factory reset are now unavailable. @Evshrug is there any way to do full factory reset without touching the touch panels on earbuds?
pathf1nderI would suggest restarting the headphones… by draining the battery so much they turn off. Maybe that reboot will help. But if it still doesn’t respond to touch after rebooting, as far as I know I think you would then get an exchange from Drop.

EvshrugThanks for the suggestion, i'll try it out. However with possible exchange there might be issues as i was ordering these buds at grellaudio (not Drop) through the forwarding to Ukraine as destination. And i had to leave Kyiv with the earbuds box there due to... well, you know what...) Even if everything will be fine, exchange might take eternity due to traffic jams on border control checkpoints.
pathf1nderOh, well if you bought direct, then email me and Gísli at support@grellaudio.com I understand how shipping would be unusual in these times, but we can talk about the best way to help you. At least a replacement would ship to you from Germany. The warranty lasts a year. Meanwhile, I hope instead that a reboot clears the TWS/1’s computer and makes the issue go away, so you don’t have to do an exchange! Fingers crossed for your good luck (and safety) 🤞
