Super surprised by how much I like these. Would I recommend them as a first or only pair of headphones? Probably not, but a fun and worthy addition to my small sound signature array: great sounding, well built, and definitely have their own sound - I also have the HE-4XX and these are different, not better or worse, in a good way. Glad I ordered!
QwervyQwervy, I don't really have the audio vocabulary to describe the difference properly, but I will say where the HE-4XX have a fully mature sound, these are like a miniature, easy to drive, version of a HiFiMan headphone. Sort of like the difference between a premium bottle of scotch and a miniature airplane bottle version. Also, from what I remember when I had a pair, to me these sound more on the HE-400i spectrum than the XX's do. So the comparison of miniature to full size is between those.
MaantuNo, it is nicely built, though a little creaky on the left side at this point, but the HE4XX has better build quality: more metal, higher quality plastics, etc.

H112AWhat would you recommend then as a first pair? Jubilee 58x? Thanks!
Hi. I would definitely not recommend these as a first pair. These are fun as an extra, different sounding pair. I don't have the Jubilees, but I do have the HE-4XX and HD-6XX: my guess is that any of those three would be a great first pair, depending on what you are using for amplification. :)!
