As someone who really knows nothing about headphones I have a question. Would these be fine without a DAC or is there value in getting a DAC along with these? If so can anyone reccomend a dac for these under $300?

H4ckeyTry the Apple adapter, for 9 USD. I am not kidding, this is pretty good - if you are not satisfied, you can buy something else. https://www.amazon.com/Apple-USB-C-Headphone-Jack-Adapter/dp/B07K25P3N1/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=Apple+USB-C+to+3.5+mm+Headphone+Jack+Adapter&qid=1605155562&sr=8-3

pradeep-sI do think he is looking for a desktop dac and that really only helps you with apple products. But I have been wrong about what people want before

th3stig7777That is the Apple USB-C dongle that is posted, works with anything that has USB-C, works with more than just Apple stuff..

H4ckeyA dac is dependent on your source and it’s processing not the headphones. As for someone here recommending you buy an Apple adapter in regards to your initial query...well thats pretty much whats wrong with asking advice on the interwebs.

th3stig7777It has an inbulit DAC: https://www.kenrockwell.com/apple/lightning-adapter-audio-quality.htm One more review: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/review-apple-vs-google-usb-c-headphone-adapters.5541/ Instead of investing in a pricey DAC, this would be a great start. In any case, driving these HPs shouldn't be an issue because they are low impedance. These work on Windows too. I run my HD 6xx and RHA T20 IEM on this adapter these days.
