Also I have never seen hifiman use a dynamic driver, was kinda hoping for a closed back planar to compete with monolith and DCA

BluHoodyThey have done dynamic heaphones before, but only about as many as they've done closed backs.

jaybattleNever had a chance to try it. Had a HE-350, but it was unfortunately stolen. Wasn't really my favorite, but I've heard worse. Still, HiFiMan doesn't have the best track record with closed back or dynamic drivers, so I'm keeping my expectations in check.

jaybattleI don't mind the Headband. I like the 99 Noir and m40x, both have their pads swapped though. Been looking at the Aeon Closed X myself, though I've heard these have potential.

BluJay614I tried the 99 Neo, and they were way too bassy for me. I had a pair of the Sennheiser HD 569 and they sounded decent (if you like the Sennheiser sound), but the build quality is rubbish. I sold them. I am thinking about trying the AKG 361/371 (build quality also suspect). It's tough to find a decent closed back.
