Have they be redesigned/fix or will they, over time, suffer the same problem like my previous pair of 4XX - screws holding caps loosen over time and fall off. I needed to screw them back together every day. Yokes were actually bigger then caps and I think that there was a bit too much tension from metal springiness involved. After some time they wouldn't even last whole day of normal use and one day I was so pissed and tired of rebuilding them over and over and over again that I throw them into garbage bin. IMHO those are simple an example of bad engineering, or perhaps case of using parts that weren't actually designed to work together in the first place.

Seems to me you wasted a decent set of headphones. I would have just used Loctite.

They can play whatever sound signal you send in. So if your PC will send sound altered by Atmos for headphones software then you will get what you send - a pseudo virtual sound that is way worse in all aspects then pure stereo sound.

kombajnThank you! this answered my question. I was just asking because sometimes i do gaming, i have a pair of Arctis 5's for gaming anyways but i was currious if planar magnetic's could do it.

Dolby atmos can be used with any set of HPs, as it is just a software DSP. Although, I did a free trial, and didn't find it much different from the surround mode windows offers, and both just screw with the sound too much, for my taste. At least, that was my experience. Maybe it would be cool for gaming or something. But for music, it just made things sound, well, like a DSP was screwing with the sound signature. Definitely NOT an improvement, especially with live music. But again, this is just my preference, you may think it makes things sound better, in which case, yes, it would work just fine. The app just processes the signal, and outputs it to whatever is hooked up, be it a set of cans, or speakers, which simply turn the signal into audible sound.

shkdwnstI have Atmos, but I use it purely for gaming. Definitely better than Windows Sonic for that application, and it does improve the sound of some music on lower quality headphones. I turn it off whenever I am running higher quality cans though.

shkdwnstAs a gamer Dolby atmos on when playing games on the PC as it really does help with immersion and pinpointing player movement (footsteps etc). On my mobile device i turn it off as it makes music sound abit werid imho.

Actual "Atmos" requires 5+ speakers placed around you from different locations. Atmos on desktop only provides a software simulation to make things sound like they come from 3 dimensions. Software Atmos will work with any headphone and create a Surround sound-like experience. Personally in my exp software surround sound never works well and makes things sound worse and poorly placed in space in comparison to just regular stereo.

If you're asking this then probably not. These are what you'd call "normal" headphones without any processing, so unless the dolby atmos surround you're speaking of can be applied to any stereo headphone the answer would be no

phoenixsongAtmos for headphones in particular does digital processing before sending it through the output of whatever device has atmos enabled (Samsung phones have this option). But referring back to the question. Using the 400i 2020 for comparison, atmos added a substantial amount of forward depth at the expense of a substantial amount of grain. The additional processing my phone had to do for atmos also introduced some weird hiccups in playback while streaming FLAC files. This is the closest I can offer to a comparable experience so YMMV for the upcoming X4.

phoenixsongFortunately it CAN be applied to ANY "normal" stereo HP(or speaker). So the answer would be, yes.

shkdwnstI expected them to know some of their stuff before posting s question on the internet. No point asking about something that is a given then, is there? But jokes on me I guess- should have known better than to have expectations from people on the internet

phoenixsongpeople don't tend to know what they haven't been told. it's ok to ask a dumb question, as i'm sure you have in a subject you're not well versed in

drawingishardThe irony is beautiful. Guy makes comment on the internet inferring that other guys on the internet are dumb; Then new guy enters dropping wisdom, teaching humility. Seems you actually can have expectations of people on the internet!

AndrewMilkyNo idea what you're hoping for, but if it's an apocalyptic saga or drama series you've come to the wrong theatre. Go rehearse your lines elsewhere

Most headphone speakers are 50mm in size, and the largest are the HyperX with 100mm speakers. How large are the speakers in these headphones ?

You're talking about dynamic driver size. These are planar and assuming they're like the 400/xx, 60mm. That said, it really doesn't mean anything.

May be a stupid question but all my headphones are labeled left and right yet these aren't. I can tell by the way the pads are angled which is which but I was wondering if others here are the same.

Is this a 400se? I just got one and like it but if these sound a little warmer I might return them and get these. I'd save about 50 bucks if you include the cable I had to buy for those plus the $10 credit I still have with drop.

They are not the same as any existing set (for real this time). EDIT: To clarify they are the HE-400SE drivers without "stealth magnets". Technically different sound but very similar.
