Great sounding headphones. However, I am very disappointed in the wear they have shown. I bought them as a gift for someone and in less than a year the pads are coming undone.

mareoftenebrae I bought replacement Dekoni pads when the HE4XX 1st dropped. Check out the HiFiMan Dekoni Audio Elite Hybrid Earpads.

mareoftenebraeI like you bought mine as a gift, and here a short time later am dealing with the exact same issue. Both sides. Replacement pads can be bought. But the quality of the ear pads was just poorly made. Certainly not what I paid for, and reflects badly overall. Sound quality has been acceptable, but doesn't shine. I wish I had gotten the Audeze EL 8's as I intended.

mareoftenebraeSame issue here, pads ripped after one year of very causal use. The headphones always sit on my desk stand and are not transported, yet the pads ripped. I contacted Drop and Hifiman but they basically said tough luck order new pads! I went and had to order Brainwavz XL Large Sheepskin Leather pads to replace them. I also had to buy the pad mounts separately from Hifiman but keep in mind you can just rip the mount out of the old crappy pads and reuse it. Getting it back on takes some work but I'm happy with my Brainwavz pads. So all in total budget an extra $50 for pads and mount.
