Given the price, this is a competent headphone and a very nice all-rounder, perfect if you want to start your journey in the mid-fi tier. Comfort is top-notch and the build quality of the headphone itself is surprisingly satisfying. I can't add much that hasn't already been said, but I want to highlight some caveats:
- The stock focus pads are amazingly comfortable, but I find them to make the headphones sound a bit congested and to give a slight bump to the mid-bass (this is an issue that I have with all the hybrid-type pads that I have tried). I ended up getting a velour aftermarket pair of pads that, while not as comfortable, gives much more clarity and air to the sound, which is already very open.
- This is still an entry-level planar, so don't expect incredible speed and the proverbial planar bass "slam" of higher end models. The low end is still very solid and fairly tight, but it still struggles with sub-bass frequencies.
- This headphone is HARD TO DRIVE, despite what massdrop says. It's as power-hungry as my Sennheiser HD600 and it sure won't be adequately be powered by a phone. Be sure you have an amplifier or take the money for buying one into account.
- I'm not putting it gently, THE STOCK CABLE SUCKS HARD and breaks very easily, as has been pointed out by other users. I had to replace it after two months because of frequent flickerings in the right channel. Unless you really do believe in magic powers of cables , you can find decent replacements for as little as 15$ (how much do you think the stock cable did cost anyway?)
