Great sound. VERY poor longevity. Look elsewhere.
These are excellent open-back headphones in terms of their sound quality and comfort. They're easy to drive, which is rare for planar magnetics, and they're easy to wear. The velour padding is a nice touch. The sound stage is a bit narrow, but the overall quality is still very detailed and rounded. They produce a sound that is very hard to beat at this price point. Unfortunately however, it is the superb-ness of the sound that makes their lack of build quality and overall longevity that much more upsetting.
I had been wondering how headphones of this caliber could cost as little as these do, and yup. sure enough. I got my answer quickly. After loving the heck out of these headphones for about 4 months, 4 MONTHS. I sat down at my desk to listen with them and both speakers began to drop in-and-out, with a static pop happening every 5-15 seconds as the speakers randomly lost and re-gained signal. This has driven me insane. Even as I type this up, I am having to play around with the cable, or tilt my head precisely in order for the correct, full sound to be heard from the speakers. Otherwise the earphones will begin to lose sound or produce just plain noise at random. This is infuriating when all you want to do is consume content in peace without the audio being a concern, and an annoyance. The HE4XX seems to be able to break/get damaged by simply sitting still on a desk for less than 5 months. I treat my electronics with care and I make a point of not doing risky things that could potentially damage them. Yet that all did nothing to stop these headphones from finding a way to seriously dampen my experience. While I was initially very pleased with this product, it hes been made quite clear that these are far from deserving of the "audiophile" affiliation.
For this much money I expect a product to last longer than 4 months of basic use. You should expect that too. It is just that simple. Do not buy these. There are better offerings that are far more worthy of your investment.
