More spacious by default than 400se/X4/400i2020. Feels a little more closed-in than other versions but wider and therefore better imaging. But once you remove the grills (on all versions), it open-up the soundstage and makes them wider. 400se/X4 responds better, so in the end, it doesn't really matter that 4XX is more spacious by default.
The most neutral of 400-line, the closest to Sundara 2020 in tuning. The warmest and smoothest but also the most bloated and muddy. Great for listening to podcasts, YT videos, etc.
Great cable, comfortable headband, but more clamp because of the different headband, resulting in ears pressed against the grills, more than on other versions.
Good all-rounder, like a cross-over between Sundara and 58X. More neutral (not as thin as 400se/X4) and relatively smooth. Once a great headphone but nowadays, I wouldn't recommend it over X4 or 400se. For me, it's less comfortable, has worse clarity/detail, and worse soundstage/imaging (after removing grills).
Would not recommend to a friend.
