What is "protein leather"? Is it just fancier wording for pu leather? Or is it real leather? It got word protein in it...?
Something that hasn't even been close to an animal
It means pleather made from proteins from usually egg shells but hifiman focus a pads suck they were on my 400i and they were the worst itchy pads that ever touched my skin
Why can't they use natural fabric instead? I don't see the point to fake leather it up. Pleather is the worst.
Yeah, but they couldn't have used some cotton or velvet or any other fabric instead? Cotton is way more king than pleather.
Protein Leather = Pleather
pleather is a combination of the two words
Money especially here on massdrop I wouldn't be surprised if these aren't even really the focus pads but a look a like of them with less material use, just like the k7xx had the k702 anny pads but yet the 7xx pads were less thick than worn down anny pads
Its good to see that not everyone has forgotten the plight of the once mighty nauga. No longer are seen the horizon spanning herds because they've been practically wiped out simply due to manufacturers wanting their hides. Remember the nauga!
The article in Plastics Today makes it seem like protein leather is newer than smartphones. OTOH pleather has been around for decades, ever since they started using plastics to make fake leather.
But cotton is natural. And a no itchy fabric. Besides regarding combinig words, protein leather sounds way more fancy than pleather.
Dammit, I've always thought it was "plastic leather."
Just heard of this "material" recently. Never knew what it was. Now I do. It must breathe better or something, because eggshells on skin doesn't sound too inviting to put next to my ears.
I want Horse hide, just like my 30s German motorcycle jacket. Supple. I can hear everything in this jacket. Don't we eat enough cows to throw some leather on foam? Cow pads, for more bass in your planar! Moo.
