Any suggestions for a decent, non-unobtainiumly priced (i.e. <$250 USD, preferably cheaper) amp to drive these HE4XX cans? I'm thinking Schiit's Asgard or Magni. Any comments or ideas welcome, would love to hear what the community has to say or have before I 'pull the trigger'. Thanks!

velo_sometimeThe O2 on sale on Massdrop is a pretty decent amp for the price. I own a pair of akg q701's I use with my O2+ODAC, it gets pretty loud. I got the 1.0x / 3.3x gain version of the amp and turning up the volume on 3.3x gives me a nice bass tickle if that says anything about driving power considering the q701's are rather bass lacking.

velo_sometimeThe HE-4XX probably will not require an amp to drive them good.
If you want good quality and lots of power I would recommend the aune x7s amp. (XLR may not be true balanced like the schiit jot, but it indeed gives you tons of power and you can drive mostly any headphone with it). You still would need a dac, something like an odac.
If you want to power most things then the aune x1s amp/dac is a good combo. Other combo would be objective2+odac or schiit stack.

Z0d1Acjot is true balanced if you get the $100 more dual/differential dac. It an end game amp/dac for most people.

velo_sometimeHighly recommend the NFB-11 from Audio-GD. Otherwise, a Stoner Acoustic UD125 and a O2 will pair nicely for just about everything.
