KnutFrom what i have read the he-4xxs and the m1060s both have their strengths. He-4xxs are more neutral whereas the m1060s have punchier base. Also you should consider doing some modding to your m1060 instead of buying another pair of headphones that might not even be an upgrade or improvement over your current cans. Dms3 for example made an interesting video about modding the m1060 though sadly there seem to be no more audeze vegan pads available which seem to improve the m1060s sound almost to the level of
lcd-2s.
HellreaverThe k7xx are like clouds when it comes to comfort, for the actual SQ, the only noticeable trait is it's large sound stage. Great for gaming. I figure the he 4xx to be more enjoyable to listen to music with. I've had a pair of 400i and 400. If you appreciate bass in your music, the hifimans do a better job bringing it out.
BigSkyOff memory, the he 400i manage to give detailed punchy bass, while providing detailed mids and highs well. Although the highs were a bit uncomfortable for me as there were too sharp for my ears sometimes. I ended up selling my 400i as it was similar to my hd 650. The he 400 aren't a complete headphone for me, they just do the bass well. I would definitely take the 400i over the 400. The he 4xx are more closer to the 400i than the original 400. I suggest you grab a pair. With the 4xx you'll be able to appreciate other aspects of the music you're listening to while having detailed and punchy base anyone choosing the he 400 series would want. These don't have the hell sent smc connectors which makes them worth it for that reason.
tom4578I owned a pair of HD650 for a long time and I decided to buy this. Planar should be a different bleed. I once listened some high end planars in an HiFi show but I forget how it sounds, Haha.
I just think this is a limited edition and not too expensive. If I don't like this after all, I probably could sell it around the same price in my country.
both very good for the money but $169 is a crazy-good deal.
