I purchased a pair...serial # 2726
The build quality seems pretty great for the amount if money. I also have a pair of Fidelio X2’s and I like the styling and build of these much better....not a fan of the float suspension type headband....looks ridiculous.
The comfort is great, except....not sure if it’s just me, but the bottom of earcups rest on my upper jaw and even though clamp pressure is low, it seems to cause me some discomfort.
Sound is pretty good. This is my first set of planars, so I had pretty big expectations.
They meet my expectations in all areas except the bass. I have heard endless reviews praising “planar bass”.....I find them bass light(ish).
They, surprisingly, require a great deal more power than I imagined to arrive at a full sound signature. Iphone 6 did not sound good. I just got a Bluewave Get bluetooth amp.....still not pushing very hard.
Finally, connecting to my Audeze Deckard does the trick...but I need to put on high gain and go past 12 o’clock to feel like I am getting enough bass.....My head may explode.
I recommend them for powerful amps, but anything less for bass may seem thin.
Update: 2/10/18
I decided to try swapping pads because I had some ZMF Ori sheepskin pads sitting around. I think that with these pads on I am getting a better seal around my ears which seems to bring the bass into focus a little more as well as smoothing out the highs. Overall it’s a more balanced sound.
They still like power though....but now I can freely crank the volume without the highs exploding my head.
jbuck72I also drive them with Audeze Deckard, but on medium gain and between 1 and 2 o’clock for music and at 3 o’clock for when I play games (Titanfall 2).
jbuck72Just swapped mine over the weekend, i second your opinion on the improved seal making he bass more direct and focused, i’d say tighter too. I think the comfort level is improved immensely though, I don’t want to take these off whereas the focus pads were kind of itchy on my face. Not to mention the sheep skin oris just look so nice on the he400i, 4xx, 560 and others that share he same design.
jbuck72Hey. I have your headphones now (same serial number) and have some issues. There is a crackling sound in the right ear cup
The sound difference is that the right ear cup no longer has bass.
Please email me at zero4991@yahoo.com so I can explain what’s going on.
JReyI have the same issue. How did you manage to fix it? Its unbearable! @Heefty tries to help me but i dont wanna do something further to damage more the headphones.
JReyI have the same problem but dont know what to do or how to fix it. Its unbearable to listen them with all this crackling in my right earcup. It distorts the hole music.
