I am in the UK. I can buy he400i from amazon with 180pounds. I have got the amazing amazon free returns for 1 month. Now, the massdrop he4xx costs me 165pounds(import, product value, shipping) and I have no free shipping returns, takes 2 months to arrive at my door, harder to claim warranty. I wonder, why would I buy these? Can someone help me change my mind?

SerboomI have thought the same thing as well, that's why I haven't joined the drop for these also the QC issues as well.

VortexSTWhat 'QC' issues? Are these junk for quality?

zambokneeI saw reports on here for generally poor build quality. Poor connection on one of the drivers, white sticker/tape on the back of the drivers behind the grille, crooked headband and poor stitching on the ear pads. Just look at the other comments further down this page.

SerboomThat's what I've noticed with most drops here. Either stuff does not sell anywhere else (like key caps for mechanical keyboards) or most of the deals do not even beat amazon unless you live in USA. Sure, there is HD6XX and some other fine things for a great price, but on average it's pretty bad. I've bought hundreds of items from Amazon and only had one chance to order from Massdrop...

VortexSTYeah, a small batch of folks had QC issues. The rest of us haven't and I have a batch number in the low hundreds for my set. They sound great and are a wonderful intro into that planar sound. The only thing I wasn't expecting were their power requirements compared to my other sets. They really need some energy to make them move at higher volumes. I'm also pleasantly surprised how well they do with movies and gaming. Nowadays, they're my first set to grab for that sort of thing.

SerboomI don't know anything about the experience getting Massdrop items in the UK, but from a pure headphone comparison, I prefer the 4xx. I think the build quality is superior. I like the plastic on the cups and the headstrap a lot more. Also I would replace the pads on the 400i while I actually really like the pads on the 4xx. So that's extra cost towards the 400i if you care about pads. I also like the sound of the 4xx stock a little bit more than the 400i. Probably has to do with pads, but could be small driver differences.

Forrest_TGHe4xx all the way if I live in the USA, but I don't, so no easy/free returns to ease my mind. But I'll consider them again for next droo, maybe go for m1060 if I'm willing to save some money anyway :D
