Couple of after-purchase notes:
The headphones are great, I like 'em. The stock cord is not so good. First, it's too short (measures only 3'). Might be good for walking around town, but was too short to allow me to lean back in my chair at the desk. Solved that minor issue with an inexpensive 6' replacement set from Amazon:

Second point is the color shown in the most recent photos--appears to be MD Blue, but as on the 6XX (which also appear to be blue), neither 4XX or the 6XX delivered to me were blue--they're just plain old black.
Pretty sure either color will sound about the same, but this being MD, somebody is bound to claim they can hear the difference between the black ones and the blue ones. Don't you believe 'em, they're likely to tell you balanced is better too. No shortage of Kool-aid drink'n, audiophile looneys on this site!
RayFHonestly would be happier if these show up black. Kinda sucks because it wouldn't technically be what I ordered but the color was a concession I was making for the price.
RayFNo problem with the hinge, I take it? this discussion thread is full of people who's screws pulled out of the cans. I'm hoping that won't be a problem on this run but who knows with HiFiMan.
MachineCultureI was concerned about those comments too, but as I've mentioned elsewhere, I'm pretty careful/gentle with my gear. So far, no issues--everything still looks new and works as advertised. I think you'll be good so long as you take common sense care.
