WOW...!!!!! $130 for these is an Absolutely incredible price and value. Pretty much makes these the very best bang for buck you can get now. If you don't own these yet I'd jump quickly on this price. That's insane
It really does represent great value at that price. I always thought these were inferior to the Sennheisers 6XX and 58X, so this lower price point makes sense, but also puts them in the right price bracket.
I partially agree with you. I wouldn't call them inferior though to the 58x and 6xx. The he4xx actually have substantially better detail retrieval than both of them but as far as overall enjoyability goes I 100% agree with you that 58x and 6xx are much better in that regard. The Iush and intimate mid-range they both portray is just to die for and the he4xx falls short in that regard. However I do believe it's worth owning both the he4xx and the 58x or 6xx as having both compliment each other quite well.
They break very easily. The headband is glued to the earcups which also is screwed by a tiny screw to the big housing of the driver. Not great value at all as they do not last. The Sennheiset 58X is the amazing deal in here not this.
Well I've owned my pair for almost 2 years now and they have been going strong with no signs of breaking. I use them just about every single day as well. My father has pair he uses every day as well for a year and a half and his are just fine to. It's called taking proper care of your gear and not treating it like a 2 dollar hooker. Thats something a lot people tend to forget and it seems like you may be one of them. It's amazing how long your gear will last and how well it will treat you if you take care of it.
And actually the headband isn't glued to the earcups... Lmao that's funny. I'm looking at mine right now and there's definitely a screw there. Nice try though.
Not man I do not buy rubbish like this. Not this made in china, falling apart, cheap crap. You might have been lucky or just don't use them much... Forums and blogs are filled with people that have this as a junk. Even in Drop... Go and read how many. Hence the price drop. People simply were not buying them. Not a single one on a HD58X.
The top part on the two sides where the logo is its glued to the headrest which many complain became un-glued. The two bottom parts that keeps the earcups are instead screwed to the earcups by a tiny screws that falls apart.
I use mine everyday. No problems what so ever. My father uses his every day. No problems what so ever. 2 pairs with close to 4 years of every day total use on them and they are still in perfectly great holding strong condition. As I said previously treat your gear with respect and you'll be amazed at how long it lasts. Disrespect it like you and many others apparently do and yeah that kind of shit will happen. It's pretty simple 🤷. Besides all of this I think you may have quite the reading difficulties as I said previously I own the hd58x and hd6xx and I already agreed I enjoy them more than he4xx in all regards. They are a more enjoyable Headphone. They lack the detail retrieval and bass impact that the he4xx is capable of but all in all are still a more enjoyable Headphone to listen to. I'm done with this conversation. We're obviously on two different sides of the fence here. I'm on the side that treats their gear respectfully and it lasts as long as we want it to and your on the side that treats their gear like a two dollar hooker and it breaks as it should. Take care and I wish you the best of luck with all your future headphone endeavors. Peace.
Oh and by the way I'd say the he4xx is doing just fine in regards to it's review status. 13.6 thousand purchases with 844 reviews and a 4.4/5 Star rating. Not to shabby if you ask me. Not nearly as much or as good as the Sennheiser's but nor should it be I agree. Still though I think it's doing just fine. Goodbye and take care.
@Solderboy23 this looks like bad design and something that could come apart very easily. Made in China is also a bad sign. Based on this photo, I would tell everyone not to buy these headphones due to bad design. I also hold the view that some people roughhouse their headphones and break them, or use them OTG, shove them into backpacks, handle them all day, and who knows what else which is then bullshit to say the headphones are bad quality. Like someone who said that the paint was 'chipping' off the 6XXs, that's total bullshit as that will only happen with serious abuse.
I'm not denying that some people have had serious bad luck with these headphones. I'm simply stating that from my own personal experience and the experience of my father as well that these headphones have been nothing but great in all regards including build quality for almost two years now.. so much so that the only conclusion I can come to is that people don't treat their gear with the respect it deserves and that is why they are experiencing these problems. Someone can argue with me until they are blue in the face about this but until I experience any reason to think otherwise I hold strong on my opinion. It is what it is 🤷
Fair enough. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle for the average person. At least you've had a good experience with yours :)
I purchased both the 6XX and 4XX about a year ago (could be longer by now) and had no problems with any aspect of the purchase, the shipping, or the quality of either product. Both of them are alive and well and still working working as advertised today. I don't consider myself lucky, I think I just got what was advertised--as I have with every other product I've purchased here.
As a matter of fact, the only problems I've had with MD are the website redesign and the good people they fired shortly after that change.
BTW, as mentioned elsewhere, I like the 4XX best!
Wait, why was someone fired?
Nice pov. The punters should pay attention
Just got mine today, great out of the box, burning in now. I think we made a good choice
Nice one. Although it's hard to go wrong at this price point on a proven set of cans. I thought only dynamic headphones benefit from burn in? Oh well I burned my 6XXs in with using them for their intended purpose haha
I've heard different theories regarding burn in, but I figured what the hell? It made sense to me to flex the diaphragm for a while to get it nice and limber and to make all the parts play nice together. It only takes a couple of days' worth and then I be jammin' mon!
I soaked mine in bourbon overnight, gave them a mellow, smoky kind of sound.
Woah man, $2 hookers should be treated with more respect than a pair of $130 headphones. Don't forget she can do things with her one good arm that would make you forget that thing on her neck!
PS: I stand with Pittsburgh Nellie
I be diaphragming! They sound amazing, they really do. Incredible low end and crystal highs with the mids in the middle
Agreed, the only thing tougher than a $2 steak is a $2 ho
