These switches are a great option for folks that love tactiles, more specifically panda switches and want an rgb friendly option. Good stem and housing wobble, sound like a panda switch, bump feels nice and they require a good lube job to get the most out of them. Quite expensive though, I got mine on sale.
good tactile feel but lets clear light through the top. The non-clear bottom means its a lot brighter at the top of the keycap compared to the bottom. Used them on my 8BitDo retro keyboard.
Pro: Great tactile response, initially all worked when installed.
Con: Key's I use frequently, those switches will fail. Either by double registering or just stopped working altogether. I've replaced the both ctrl keys, left shift, left alt, the spacebar all at least twice since having the switches for ~7-8 months. And some other keys like A and Esc. Wouldn't recommend these switches
These switches completely rock in the Yunzii AL80 I installed these on. The RGB absolutely glows with these and the sound and feel are amazing with these switches. Typically I'll play around with switches until I pair them with a board, but these absolutely worked as soon as they went in. I'll probably order another 90 soon so I'll have these in my rotation, since this original set I ordered were so perfect.
Fun fact, Drop accidentally sent me an extra box of switches.
I appreciated the token of goodwill, because I ended up needed it. All 40 extra switches have been used up as replacements for failing switches in the year since I received them.
It stings that I have to give them up and go with another switch now, because they've been by far the nicest switches to type on. I even prefer them to my original Holy Pandas, but the reliability has been just awful.
I don't know if it's over-lube, manufacturing defects or what, but in my experience, the switches have been completely unreliable. The failure rate for keys that develop double to quadruple tapping, or outright die entirely, is completely unacceptable.
I should give this a one star because of it's unbelievably poor long term performance, but ultimately, these are still the nicest switches I've ever used, hence never bothering to reach out to support for replacement. Hell, they did send me a bonus pack already, even if they didn't mean to. I'm not looking the gift horse in the mouth.
Unfortunately though, it's been over a year of frustration and pulling out dead switches, popping in new ones like candy. I cannot recommend these until quality control dramatically improves. Who knows, maybe it already is, but I found a thread full of people having the same problems I did, so I'm not inclined to test the waters again myself.
Please turn it around guys.
Love these keycaps. They have good resitance, a satisfying tactile bump, and a lovely sound profile. Being clear is really great too, considering that I like to play with my RGB lights. Probably a little higher register than I expected in terms of sound, but other than that, they're my favourite switches for now.
I replaced the 5+ year old Halo Trues on my original Massdrop CTRL with these after the Halos started double-pressing. The Halos have a mushy and relatively smooth/subtle tactile bump. The bump on these Holy Pandas is VERY DIFFERENT. I don't hate it, I'm kind of liking how sharp the feedback is, but it's a huge adjustment. Unfortunately I prefer the sound of the Halo Trues quite a bit. I recently added the Drop CTRL keyboard foam kit and Drop Phantom stabilizers, and the board is sounding really good in general, but the Halo Trues have a deeper sound quality that I like more.
If you like an intense tactile bump, definitely give these a try!
EDIT: I dislike the sound more and more but I'm becoming ADDICTED to the tactility of these. Incredible typing feedback. -1 point for sound and +1 for feel, so still 4 stars!
