Hey everyone,
The Holy Panda X Switches have arrived and are being shipped as we speak. We expect all orders from both preorder batches to have shipped by early next week, a full 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule!
We're just about sold out on Batch #2 of the Holy Panda X switches, and Batch #3 will go on-sale on Monday April 4th. This production batch of 10,000 units has been delayed to May 15th, so we've decided to extend our pre-order discount until we've received sufficient inventory to sell the product with immediate shipping.
Anybody else having a hard time removing these? I have experienced this on both GMMK Pro - Aluminum and Keychron K2, so I can say it's not the plate(s). I wrecked 3 switches before figuring out if I pull them at an angle toward me, I can remove them without damage (south-facing pcb).
The LED side of the switch has no give for the tabs when using a switch puller. The whole LED side is shallower compared to other switches, and so the cutout that would let the tabs recede is non-existent. Basically unable to remove them without damaging. :-(
I just got these today and have done a very small amount of testing. So far I have to say I really like the sharp tactile feeling. So much so that I thought I'd write this message even though it'll be a much longer time until I'm sure that I love them.
Got my 3 sets delivered yesterday, finally had time to install them in my keyboard. I have to say I do like them. They sound nice and feel good to type on.
Got shipping notification. Does Drop offer local pickup or even have a front end store? I'm local in Edison. Come to think of it, maybe it's not a good idea...
Hey @Jyri_Drop , thanks for the interest. First of all, due to this carrier forwarding stuff of DHL Ecommerce and you guys forgetting to type my name on the parcel, my Planck kit was lost and I found it due to my hunch and sheer luck. I had to take 3 cabs to post offices for written statement in the times when covid-19 rates were high. Please see my review on my Planck purchase first: https://drop.com/buy/planck-mechanical-keyboard/reviews/2851507
I would prefer multiple choices, along with the current option. I would not like to spend too much money for shipping on let's say a single 10 USD keycap, or the vice versa. I never had issues with Fedex International in express shipping choices in other sites, which is also cheaper from what I can tell.
I would like to have the current option, along with registered email for cheaper choice, and Fedex International for guaranteed express choice, or UPS international or DHL express. Fedex international and UPS international express and DHL express carries the parcel to the address themselves, and they do not forward to other carriers like DHL ecommerce and Aramex does.
Good news: Production was completed early.
Good news: We readjusted our deliveries to move our internal keyboard switch allocation (for Icon series production) to retail package units so that we'd have more switch packs available.
Bad news: COVID-19 delays snarled freight transportation across China creating massive delays.
Good news: We managed to air-freight all of the switches via an indirect route (both 5K batches) to avoid the congestion.
Bad news: It cost an ungodly sum of money to air freight that many switches. I hope they were served caviar on the plane.
Good news: The switches are currently sitting at JFK airport waiting to clear customs, get picked up, and then get delivered to our warehouse in New Jersey.
Good news: Assuming everything goes smoothly, we should start shipping Holy Panda X switches next week, which is two weeks ahead of the original schedule.
Note: 8,700 of the 10,000 kits have been sold. The next batch of switches will be arriving in about 6-8 weeks (depending on COVID19 in China, etc.)
