Doesn’t the Drop FDX1 look more like the JVC FD02 that sells for $280? the side-by-side from puur1n’s shot https://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/drop-x-jvc-ha-fdx1-dd-iem-the-second-coming-of.8169/ If that’s the case, then it’s more like getting the FD02 (with custom filter), rather than massive savings of the FD01?

steve.eI tried both FD01 and FD02 in Japan and they sound completely different. The FD01 is much better than FD02.

steve.eNo, they just removed the grooves/ridges from the back of the FD01's housing, because some people said they're uncomfortable. The FDX1 is basically the same as the FD01, minus the ridges, plus the new damping filters. I compared my FD01 with a preproduction sample of the FDX1, and indeed the FDX1 felt more comfy when I was lying on the side, and the pillow pressed the housing against my ear.

steve.eHey @steve.e Physical Design: There are some ridges that were removed from the FD01 for the FD0X for comfort. Sound/Tuning/Nozzles: The HA-FD02 does not have removable nozzle system and no damping in the nozzles. The HA-FDX1 has a system of removable nozzles and 3 pairs of nozzles with different tunings (two tunings developed by the community). One pair you can even modify yourself if desired... The Drop + JVC HA-FDX1 Dual Carbon IEM is based on the JVC HA-FD01. That's why this is not called the HA-FDX2. ;)
