I borrowed a pre-preduction unit and, after my first impressions, attempted to join the drop on the second it came on -- and struggled with it for 13 minutes. The price is very right imo, the $600 top Sennheiser in-ears IE500 PRO cannot even remotely compete with these JVCs. Campfire offers another single dynamic driver (DD) earphone for $1300 that is apparently bassy...hahaha. I like single DDs as they have a greater tonal accuracy (timbre) than multis with balanced armature drivers. I also borrowed a $1300 hybrid piezo...and prefer the JVC by a wide margin. While the timbre is the FDX01's great strength, soundstage and resolution are somewhat limited, as you may expect from a single DD...but nothing is perfect, at least not at $250. These are darn good overall, and I look forward to Christmas... And I really appreciate the input of all the people who made this drop possible and put their love, time, and energy in persuading JVC to produce a relatively small batch of this improved version of their stock model at $100 off. Considering this unique opportunity, even a cheap guy like me forked out the asking price without hesitance. Cheers, Jürgen, reviewer at https://www.audioreviews.org
