Hello, is there any benefit of going iem if not wanting portable? I have hd6xx and other headphones. I want to know is there any theoretical difference between iem and over ears apart from high bottom end rolling. Is it worth getting iem just to try what they sound like? Thank you.

bigjackoYes. IEMs (specifically those coming out of China aka "ChiFi") have been experiencing the most technological advancements of late, vs. headphones; the JVC HA-FDX1 wouldn't come under this umbrella statement, as they're an older (relative to the recent explosion of KZ ZSX, TRN V90, Blon BL-03, CCA C12,...) design, tuned with noise dampening material, to be more in tune with western tastes.

LGCiWhat are the advancements? I saw some people love fdx1, why is that? Also how does iem sound generally compare to over ear? Is it worth to get iem just to try?

bigjackoChiFi IEM: I would recommend visiting Head-fi.org, https://www.head-fi.org/forums/portable-headphones-earphones-and-in-ear-monitors.103/ Beyond the Dynamic Driver only models using new coatings and or materials, you'll find the multidriver units can target specific sound signatures. JVC HA-FDX1: you can read the reviews that are posted right here on mDrop
