Hello dear mass drop friends, id have a question and i was wondering if anyone was able to help me out. What do you suggest, between these options? JVC HA-FDX1 Audio-Technica ATH-E50 Shure SE215 FiiO FH5 or FA7 FINAL E5000 To give a bit of context. I usually listen to pop, rap-hiphop, rock or EDM music. I like bass but don't go all out so wouldn't see my self as a base wh°re much rather id say i like a warm sound. I love a wide soundstage. I usually use my phone in conjunction with a ddhifi tc35i to listen to music. i than you for any and all comments

j0schI'd remove the SE215 and FA7. Shure's line-up is so outdated, and FiiO's all balanced armature sets are kinda meh. E50 probably doesn't have the "fun factor" your genres need because it's a single balanced armature. Anyways, my money's on either the FH5 or FDX1

j0schTo be clear I don’t have these nor have I heard them but I also prefer a warm signature and read a ton of reviews and decided on the JVC HA-FW01. Everything I’ve read regarding these described it as neutral/bright. Where as the woodies are warm. I absolutely love the FW01 now that I’ve got a decent fit ( Xelastec tips) and these would be the same issue fit wise. I’m not saying don’t get them... I’m still curious about them and will probably pick them up when they go down to $200, but the tonality of the FW01 is fantastic in my opinion.(once you get the right fit). Not a basshead set..just warm. My 2 cents 😁

1Audiophoolhello; thanks for the comment. I got them and i have to say you are right. the mids are to strong for me and with the dampeners the howl music sounds muted. I had to give them back. Considering i had to pay customs this was a real letdown but decently not for me so I didn't see any alterative.

1AudiophoolJust read your comment about wanting to pick these up at some point when they were on sale for around $200 and they’re actually listed at $175 presently..seems to be a solid deal for sure. I’m in the same boat as you having the fw01’s and being curious about the more neutral and analytical qualities of this set as a complement to the woodies. I might just pick them up as well..let me know if you end up doing so and whatcha think of them!

ChumbWumbaHey, thanks for the reply and alerting me to the current price which I wasn’t aware of. Picked up the Mest Mkii since last posting here, which is freaking awesome. So I really should just be content and stop buying IEMs but it is a great price for sure and I want to see what all the hype is about. Thanks for the heads up and I’ll share my thoughts when they come.👍

j0schE5000 I personally hated, I've tried almost all E-series IEMs and they are all overly warm, bassy, and having a blurry image. It's really been a while since I've listened to these so if someone claims otherwise, believe in them and not me. E50 and SE215 are both meh options to me. Fiio is solid, also should check out Moondrop IEMs for sure. FXD1 from what I heard is also very solid as well, I am debating whether to buy it right now despite owning quite a few other ones in the same/similar price range (A4000, starfield, ie40pro, lyra nature, blessing 2 dusk yet to arrive, wf-1000xm4, airpods pro...)

1AudiophoolThat’s absolutely awesome..I’ve heard lots and lots of positive things about Mest’s earphone lineup, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy them a ton! Let me know here about those as well when ya have a minute to give your initial impressions if ya wouldn’t mind 👍🏼 I’m still so torn, I just bought a pair of Mangird iems and some other stuff I shouldn’t have so I’m not sure if I’ll join or not..but every time I see this drop it’s usually at the $240-$250 price point so I’m very tempted regardless. My pocketbook must HATE me 🤷🏼‍♂️😂

KUR1SUSorry for the late answer. What do you prefer between the starfield, blessing 2 dusk and the wf-1000xm4? have you tried, and what do you think of the noting one's? The FXD1 are solid, they have a good sound but for me lack color, or warmth dk if that's right. Best of wishes

j0schHere's an updated list of IEMs I own: Apple Airpods Pro Sony WF-1000XM4 Moondrop Blessing 2: Dusk Moondrop Strafield JVC HA-FDX1 Etymotic ER4XR Sennheiser IE40PRO Astrotec Lyra Nature Final A4000 Here's a list of headphones I own: Focal Elex Audiotechnica ATH-W1000Z Philips SHP9600 Sony WH-1000XM3 Feel free to ask more questions about these, I also have another list of IEMs/headphones that I have sold, but pretty much everything is mid-fi/low-fi, it's pretty much where my interest lies (and I couldn't afford more expensive ones before anyway). Regarding your question, the technicality really stands out on the B2D, albeit a very similar FR for ER4XR, B2D, and FDX1. ER4XR is an accurate but boring kinda flavor, whereas FDX1 is the most musical/"flavored" among them to my taste. Starfield I haven't listened to in a while but it has definitely more flavor than the other ones and more bass, and is very excellent on its own and for its price. WF-1000XM4 definitely worse on technicality, some pretty nice bass, but you could tell it's definitely worse in terms of sound quality (honestly haven't listened to this one in quite a while so don't remember too much, could check for you if needed). Noise canceling wise it's similar to Airpods Pro, but I sold them before I got the 1000XM4 so I can't do a comparison. These are comfortable for me but might not for others, just like B2D, also comfortable for me. Also ANC on both are worse than WH-1000XM3 for sure; if XM3 is a 10 XM4 is probably a 7.
