It's a Mystery Box

Having few keycaps sets, this box worked out for me because I couldn't really get something I already have. I did get the first series and ended up getting keycaps worth $370 in total, with my haul being worth ~$270 this time. Most notable from the box was the Infinity war keycap set, dwarf factory artisan, reverse pudding keycaps (which I really appreciated and am using now) and a regular set of white keycaps (I couldnt find them anywhere but they are in a box). Generally, it was a good box imo as the last box, although valuable, I couldn't really use most of it since it was all SA profile (I needed something else other than SA as that was mainly what I had). Yes, you gamble when you buy this, but I think if you're going to buy it you should've realized so and understood the loss that you can accept here. I would say it's a bit of fun for $100

My only complaint: I received two of the same set.

I was skeptical of the mystery box, but overall I’d say the good outweighed the bad. I bought two boxes because Drop said we wouldn’t receive identical items across boxes. This was not the case for me. As you can see in this photo below, I received two of the same set: Two Tone Shine Through (Blue)

These two are also the keycap sets I dislike the most as I just don’t like the colorway and I think the caps themselves are bland. On the bright side, I think the DCX Magnolia and GMK Mitolet are very pretty. As these are both cylindrical Cherry profile, these are also kits I would have never purchased myself, as everything else I own is MT3 or SA—I’m usually a high-profile girl. But, I thought the Mystery Box was an opportunity to broaden my horizons, and I have to admit these two sets are beautiful. The Artifact Shield Purple-on-Black is not bad, I could see it looking good on a variety of boards. And I think the oddball orange and green Happy Planet set is cute, too—I especially like the alien novelties. For the artisans, I received a Strawberry Summer Drink and a Rainless Garden Terrarium. I adore Dwarf Factory, so I was very happy with the Terrarium, especially since it’s in my favorite DOM profile. The strawberry drink is a little weird, but I like it. I’m not sure where I’ll use it… maybe on a macropad. So really for me personally the only bust were the identical blue shine-through sets. Other than that I’m happy I participated, and I probably will give it another go if Drop decides to run this promotion again.

Fun mystery unboxing

Was crossing my fingers for a marvel set but the SA Oblivion V2 keycal set is fun to try out. Don't really like the white on black and the Grape keysterine set but they are still nice keycaps. I was very happy with the artisan keycap, it's very pretty and something I had been considering getting. Overall if you want to have some fun and a surprise then getting mystery boxes can be fun. Don't expect to get all that you want though.

Disappointing Value

My Mystery box items were:_______ Artifact Shield BOW (MSRP $59) Current price $49. On sale 6/13/22 for $13 Drop skylight series White (MSRP $45) regularly on sale for $29. On sale 10/11/22 for $11 Captian America MT3 (MSRP $130) Current price $25. Dwarf Factory Fairy Mountain (MSRP $55) Current price $37. MSRP = $289 Lowest Price = $86 If I bought all of my items on sale individually I would have saved money. My "premium" set is currently the cheapest item in my box at $25. Yes im complaining, i feel like I was shipped "dead inventory" and feel scammed out of $100. I seriously hope I got the worst example of the mystery box.

Moving Dead Stock - But Still Passable

Despite the disclaimer from drop themselves and all the previous people complaining about getting the Captain America MT3 set, I thought I would give it a try anyway. I got grey on black basic keycaps, grey on white basic keycaps, an alright Dwarf Factory artisan and, you guessed it, the 130$ 25$ "premium" Cap MT3 set. Not really all that worth it, and while I'll find a use for most of the keycaps, the odd colors of the Captain America set are gonna be a hard sell. Not worth it and will not be buying another keycap set from Drop. Stick to Amazon and/or other keycap sellers. Anyone trying to convince me that an MT3 set being price slashed from 130$ to 25$ is not trying to move dead inventory is delusional. In the end, it's a lootbox. Some will win, most will lose. Never been a gambler and maybe now I never will be one, hah. Thanks Drop.

Worth it if you're wanting to try new things.

I purchased one of these boxes with the hopes to try out a new profile and get some decent sets to use on builds for family/friends. Overall, the box delivered in that regard, giving me an MT3 profile to try. However, that exact set went on sale just a few weeks later for $39, severely cutting down the value of the mystery box. And out of all the MT3 sets, I got a color way that I am not much a fan of, the MT3 Iron Man set. The dark red text on the brownish background of the modifiers just makes it a bit too hard to read the text on some keys. Set 1: MT3 Iron Man (Valued at $130 when I bought the Mystery box, but is currently $39 as of this review.) Set 2: Artifact Bloom Series: Glow (Value of $50) Set 3: Skylight Series: Horizon (Value of $45) Artisan: DF Terrarium: Spiny Oasis Dom (Value of $37) The normal MSRP of these items may be over $200, but with sales, I'm fairly certain I wouldn't have willingly went out and got these specific items for $100.

A bit disappointed. Only good thing is the price savings

I got some pretty bland keyboards. The only cool thing was the artisan keycap, really. It was cool, but I won't order again I think. I hope everyone else got better things than I did, but it seems a bunch of people are disappointed in the variety as well.

Not really a good deal irl

I got the following sets for the box:

Marvel Capt. America MT3 ($25 at discount)
Keysterine Arctic ($49)
Artifact Bloom Matcha Mango ($45)

Basically, most of them are leftover stock. Apart from the keysterine set, wont really use the other two sets. Overall, would say the set just barely made up to its asking price, but not really such a good deal that was advertised to be (deffo not worth $150+).

Keysterine Smoke- 39 XDA Happy Planet - 29 DCX Magnolia - 89 Hot Key Project - 19 Box is worth 176 (sale prices), I used my DKC coupon, and Magnolia actually looks really good. I'm glad I got a DCX set in the mix because they look and sound great for the price. I look at it like I bought DCX Magnolia and got the rest for free. And that ain't bad.
