Thanks once again for making it 0% left hand friendly, you guys have really helped me save money this year with all these drops not even having clip rotation options which is all I want.
halflife7810% of the population primarily uses their left hand. 90% of the population doesn’t want useless screw holes on the show side of their knife. Do that math. It’s not personal; it’s just numbers.

LX_EmergencyI know you think you’ve undermined my comment, but when it comes down to it- there are *still* no extraneous holes in the handle of this knife, and it’ll *still* never clip in your left pocket quite as comfortably as it’ll clip in my right 😉 See what happens when you insist on making things personal? You STILL lose.

Jschreiner1349What the f*** are you talking about. All that was meant with that comment is to show how redicilous complaining about extra screw holes is. It's not about making things personal. I don't know you. I can however show you my disdain for "holes in the presetation side" whining. Freaking crab mentality. "I got mine so f*** you".
LX_EmergencyAnd I was reminding you how statistics work. Holes cost money to drill. If 90% of your target audience doesn’t want or need them (not even considering finding them ugly or whatever- I’m talking strictly necessity now,) then don’t expect to see them. You can call my reasoning RIDICULOUS (emphasis added, for a spelling lesson,) but an explanation isn’t even required- do you honestly expect any reasonable company to waste time, money, and tooling in order to make concessions to a very small minority (though an excessively VOCAL one- it seems a new knife doesn’t hit the market nowadays without that ONE lefty bitching and moaning about how irrelevant his concerns are overall; to be filed right there next to the guy who’s surprised his newest CRKT import has a blade made of 8Cr13MoV steel...) when the overwhelming majority (again, like ~90% of the populace) doesn’t need, want, or care to see such unnecessary expense marring the pretty side of his new toy? So cut your losses and track down a lefty Sebenza, or buy a Delica and a Griptilian and start telling all your right-handed friends that you’re ambidextrous, not a lefty, I swear! 😂

Jschreiner1349Your 90% statistic is assuming that everyone who's righthanded vocally doesn't want those holes drilled. That's a false assumption right off the bat. I've even met numerous righthanders who preferred lefthanded knives because they prefer to have their gun on the right and knife on the left. So forget about that percentage. It's nonsense. Then you add tooling costs. Yes, drilling extra holes costs money. But you also gain an extra percentage of market share in return. Compared to the raise in market share the cost is peanuts. So once again, nonsense. It's not a "waste of time, money and resources" if you're gaining new customers. So yes, I call your reasoning redicilous, superficial, selfish, nonsense and without empathy.

Jschreiner1349I'm right handed but actually like my knife in my left pocket. My phone is in my right.
LX_EmergencyLook, just go on Instagram or Bladeforums or wherever, and count how many times you see a clip swapped to the traditional show side of a knife (because even when there are holes drilled on both sides of the handle, isn’t the clip like literally ALWAYS installed on the right-handed side of the knife from the factory? Can you guess why...?) Hell, I’d wager there are more people who own Hinderer XM-18s, Kershaw Leeks, and Spyderco Paramilitary 2s and have left them in the right-handed “tip-down” configuration they come from the factory, than have swapped them out to lefty carry (and all of the guys in your “I carry my knife on my left side because HIGH SPEED LOW DRAG gun is on my right side because CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS ZOMBIES CS:GO YouTube!” just *know* that tip up carry is THE ONLY WAY TO DO IT YOU MAGGOT! so don’t waste your time with me on the tip up vs. tip down, righty vs. lefty argument.) The crossover appeal of a righty carrying a knife on his left side is probably even less than that of the legitimate lefty. But let’s say that, all told, 25% of the populace wants holes on both sides of the knife- even with a number that’s 2.5x the number of strict lefties on the planet, you’re always going to be up against a huge majority. The crossover appeal to your average Xbox armchair prepper isn’t going to offset the production cost of drilling unneeded holes in everyone else’s knife. While Ferrari may have a business model that allows them to charge you more to *remove* the floor mats in their Superleggera models, no one else really wants to foot the cost of adding something useless to their purchase. And that holds just as true for the $20 Kershaw as it does the $350 Reate. Especially in the mid-tech, custom, and art knife market, where people would rather pay more for less- no branding on the blade, and no senseless holes in the handle! And this knife definitely falls firmly in the lap of the “knife enthusiast” crowd, as opposed to the “I need to cut something and all’s I gots is muh left hand to hold it!” crowd.
JDM_GTi carry my knife in my right front pocket, my phone is in my left front pocket, and my wallet in my left hand back pocket. I don’t think *anyone* carries their wallet in their left rear pocket, but I do. I do a lot of things ass-backwards, but mostly I just like trolling the lefties WITH FACTS. I edc a Spyderco PM2 and everything else I own (out of several dozen...) is for flipping and fidgeting with while I watch tv. Honestly I wouldn’t care if my knives were full of holes from tip to tip and had pocket clips on all four locations- it doesn’t make the argument any less mathematically ridiculous.

LX_EmergencyEh, maybe I’m the troll. Honestly, it sucks that the cutlery industry hates the hand you were born to write with. Knives are a huge hobby of mine, and something that makes my life a lot easier from a utility perspective. It’s really kind of a bummer that you’re forced to make do with what you’re provided, even if it’s far from ideal. And even if there’s really only like two of you who feel that way 😂 just kidding. Here’s to more ambidextrous/lefty knives. Take care, man.

Jschreiner13491 in 10 people are left handed, that means a potential 10% more sales with a left handed carry option. Show me a business that doesn't want an additional 10% sales? 90% of the population doesn't want useless screw holes on the show side of the knife. Okay how about the 10% of the population that is stuck with a pocket clip on the show side of nearly every knife? Somebody mentioned conducting a study of how many photos have been posted of kershaw leeks with the clips flipped. The answer is zero because that option isn't available on leeks.
jhonis“Show me a business that doesn’t want an additional 10% sales?” Massdrop. This one, this business right here. It’s literally why we’re having this discussion. “90% doesn’t want useless screw holes[...] how about the 10% of the population stuck with a pocket clip on the show side?” 90% > 10% Like those numbers aren’t even remotely close. You see that, right? If you were running a business, would you rather sell 90 items, or ten? Do you even math bro? I brought up the Leek, and said more people probably flip it from tip down as it comes from the factory (just like the XM18 and PM2) to tip-up. When it comes down to it, there’s just no way to make 10% the majority. You can argue with me, but you’ll never win, as long as I can still buy right-handed knives. And brother, my choices are endless.

This site once promoted advancing a better design. Maybe no longer. Time to move on, then.

jhonis"Show me a business that doesn't want an additional 10% sales?" One thing that you have to consider is that those 10% of knives will cost more to produce than the other 90%. It's basically two different knives, and volume brings the price down.

Eraursls84Screw holes for putting the clip on the other scale makes not a different knife.

jhonisNo, but a left handed version is. I didn't realize that this thread was about clip holes, I thought it was one of the many other posts asking for a lefty version.
