Excellent profile, thicc caps with a beautiful design. Ortho selection is weird.
Pros:
  • The MT3 profile is amazing. I love the dish and the subtle sculpted shape. I feel like I just gained 10 WPM.
  • The colors and font here are so cool. It's like a fusion of modern and classic retro! The Model M (not like I can afford a real beamspring) was my first mechanical, and these caps really hearken its essence to me, on my very very different linear+silent, vertically staggered, compact, split+tented Iris. Mmmmm! That tasty juxtaposition!
  • The keycaps are super sturdy. Almost too much: they pull apart my Roselios when I try to remove them occasionally. I guess that's useful if I need to lube them.
  • Texture feel is great too.

Cons: The only con is the key selection here. The selection of caps for the ortholinear set is super weird. Which is an issue if you don't sell individual keys or small add-ons or include blanks. Why is the only leftmost R3 option ESC? Lots of people would want CTRL or FN. Yes, lots of ortho layouts have ESC as the leftmost key on R3, but not all of them. Since you included an R1 and an R2 ESC as well, clearly you were thinking about people who put ESC elsewhere... but then stopped thinking halfway about what they'd put there instead. What gives? Why is the only rightmost R2 option Backspace? Again, you included an R1 backspace, but then what would I put right of "P"? Another backspace? I ended putting another ESC there, even though it's really a backslash. Why are there two up arrows on R4? Who needs that? Lol. Summary: Thanks Matt, these are amazing. I wish I had a R2 backslash, but it's not the end of the world.

A legendary set
MT3 is, by a far margin, my favorite profile. I had the original release and miss the cyan colors and some of the more quirky novelties missing from subsequent rounds, but the quality of these newer releases is TOP NOTCH. Previous releases had issues with crooked legends, which was annoying, but overall they were excellent. These have crisp legends, excellent texture, and nice thickness. The sculpt is phenomenal. I'm a fan of higher profile sculpts, so this one is great for me. Each key has what I would say is a depression in the center, almost like SA or DSA's scooped F and J homing keys. The homing keys have an even deeper scoop to make it stand out. The feeling is almost like each key "hugs" your fingertip, making it a delight to type on. MT3 Susuwatari will be out soon and I suspect it will give SA a good challenge. Right now (late 2019) the keycap community is absolutely DROWNING in GMK sets. Every day a new GMK set shows up. Maybe this will give some much needed variety to offerings. Considering the molds are owned by Drop, we could probably expect to see sets run regularly and for cheaper than SA or GMK.

I ended up not keeping them. I'm not going to leave a bad review though as I believe some people might like this. To preface typically I touch type 90-100wpm on my OEM IKBC in Dvorak. The day I had them on I ended up with a lot more strain on my right wrist than is typical. I think this is due to the cupping and slant of the lower row. It makes the shift feel harder to actuate for me, maybe it's just my pinky though. The large dishes felt like it was just more work to move over and into the center to properly type. The edges feel a lot more pointed than you would think making you not really want to fall short and actuate it on the edge. I had to reduce my speed and make a concentrated effort to make broader movements. Overall it just wasn't comfortable for me and I prefer shorter movements I guess. Quality wise the PBT is really nice, but with a strange texture. In my set there was a slight slant to the spacebar not extreme or anything. Caps are thick. The noise was higher than my OEM PBT which I expected. Anyways hope this review helps.

15~20% of the keycaps were delivered chipped (shown in picture above) upon delivery. For a $100+ keycap set, the quality control is absolutely terrible. Profile is nice, but the manufacturing is absolutely the worst.

Stellar. But needs to work on some basics.
Review is for a TKL kit which I'm currently using on an Anne Pro 2. When drop decides to ship with FedEx, stuff arrives in a week to India (Which I'm ever grateful for). However, paying 30% in import duties is not pleasant. But that's not on Drop. The packaging in which it arrived was satisfactory, some of the keys arrived with scratched sides and two keys with scratches on the tops of the keys. Nothing major but still something that can be worked on.

The keys themselves are a REALLY tight fit on the cherry blue and gateron brown switches that I have lying around. And simply refuse to fit on some box switches which I have. Why is this a concern? Well because some switches have become a bit loose with pulling and replacing, better tooling can probably help in this regard. And while we're on things of concern, the legends themselves aren't the clearest. Looking at the keys I can spot some alignment issues with the dye sub. If this colorway/font were available in a double shot flavor I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another set.

The switch tops have a lovely grippy abrasive feel to touch and scoops especially on the homing keys guide you in. These outclass some of the GMK and Ducky sets I've used.

There is a thickness to the sound produced by the keys. Quite often you'll be rewarded with a loud "thock" when you strike the backspace or the enter or the shift keys. In terms of sound they are an aural joy. My biggest peeve: I really really wish the TKL set came with a 1.75u shift. Which would mean I could possibly use this set on a Drop ALT. Sigh! Overall I'm very happy with the set. The pricing seems right. The set is thoroughly engaging to type on and barring a few issues, it is ONE of the best keycap sets, period. To type on it's my favourite bar none.

R4 in Ortholinear Kit is not good for Planck
Good: Superb feeling! Bad: R4 in Ortholinear Kit is not good for Planck. The angle is not right. My thumbs are pressing edges not surface. I reversed R4 for my thumbs. However, R5 have to be included like the original drop. Also, I hope blank set will be released soon.

SteveG32Hi Steve, I have a 96 keyboard and I was wondering if you would be willing to part (with compensation, of course) with your extra 1u wide ALT, FN, and CTRL keys?
