This is something we waited for loooong time, like 10 years or so.
It must be done correctly:
-- Commodore logo is a MUST, Amiga can be in Novelties kit as its not Amiga set
-- correct colors - both brown and burgundy. Remember SA Chocolatier? Nice deep brown was nice there.
-- PETSCII - you added it, so perfect as it was a must as well
-- full brown set could be an option, with beige F row, like on one of the C64 versions
Those colors on renders are definitely too dark or need to be re-done, hard to say.
Either way I would suggest brown color from SA Chocolatier, burgundy - we have to work on that one :)
phinixThis is another case where Drop would benefit from doing real interest checks, ahead of sales and manufacturing. It's probably too late to make any changes; for all we know they've already been made, with no input or feedback.
phinixThey've been saying new molds are too expensive, but they did them for Noctua and the Marvel sets. I wonder if they're only willing to make them for licensed sets?
phinixJust my two cents, I believe the Commodore logo is a no go since there could be a trademark violation. Alternate F-Row also impossible unless they make the whole Hobbyist kit in beige. As for brown modifiers, I think it’s only possible if they add a secondary, full brown Base Kit (without the numpad cause I believe justifying 2 numpads for a set like this would be too much). The colors look alright but the only source of comparison I’ve got is the SA Retro set which I have, don’t have the actual C64. So if I could build on the suggestions you’d made I would:
Add a full brown Base Kit
Add a beige/grey (color is seen on the fallen GMK Retro) Hobbyist Kit
Make the bottom row on all Base Kits, Ortho Kits R5 instead of R4
The last point is a stretch, but doesn’t hurt to ask.
MiToYeah, I know what you mean, but if we had DSA and SA sets with logo, SP managed to get it somehow, so why not getting it in this one?
I'll be honest with you - for me and probably for 90% of guys here, set without C logo is a no-go. Case closed.
We are a huge community of enthusiasts/hobbyists that like variety, but for these kind of specific sets, we want a true representation - Commodore inspired set without real logo in a total let-down.
I've been waiting for SA Retro re-run, was told it will happen already few years ago and still nothing.
This one looked like a huge successor set, MT3 being even closer to original profile, but without those few bits, including logo, is already a dead set, in my opinion.
