I have all the kits for this except for Mac. I feel the kitting and the quality of the caps is great for the price. Wish the mods were a bit darker but it's still a good set.
After daily driving this set for over a month I adjusted my score. Sounds great, feels great, but the mod color thing really is worth a star.
I am a huge fan of this set; I thoroughly enjoy the look and feel. One of the big upsides to this set is that they provide keys for a variety of non-traditional layouts, like for a split keyboard. The yummy mod keys add to the fun and breakup the monotony of the standard mod key symbols/words. I also like that there are two options for homing keys, the little raised dash or having scooped keys (I went with the scooped).
As for the “ate” key, I know some people are not a fan; for me every time I look at it I sing the “Apples and Bananas” song in my head (so that’s a win).
I had my doubts on the set but went ahead anyway in view of the theme and interesting colors. Upon laying my fingers to type on them, they felt so soft and comfortable- a great experience even for GMK stans and clone enjoyers.
All-in-all, definitely a thumbs up to get them especially if you like the colorway and if they are on sale. I have to take away a star due to the kiting- banana caps only included in the Yummy Mods kit.
Note: TBH if at least one or two banana caps are included in the other kits, it would have been a Recommended Buy.
I was finally able to use these on a keyboard, and I wish I had tried them sooner. I didn't realize the mods were a different color, I'm not sure if they are supposed to be. The keycap sizes are inconsistent. The space bar is twisted and barely fit on the keyboard. The legends are fuzzy. I've built a fair number of keyboards and used many different keycap brands, for now I'll stick with GMK and ePBT.
e: the legends are actually not fuzzy at all, not sure what I was thinking.
Great build and print quality, everything fit in well. The spacebars were not bent. The key texture is quite nice, on the smoother side. The color is definitely not mainstream and will not make you the most popular fellow.
The subtle color difference between the mods and alphas is also nice. The bold font looks good, or maybe I just got used to it. Just wish there were some blank 1u keys in the standard modifiers kit, instead of having to buy yet another set.
The caps themselves are very nice. They are pretty thick, but not double shot. But the thickness certainly makes them feel and sound very good. The color difference between the letters and the surrounding keys is minute but still there. Very solid keycaps. I like them a lot. They are very smooth, which takes some getting used to but overall they feel, sound, and look good.
