Welcome to DCX Cyber Gen 1! As an ongoing in stock project, this is the 1st revision of MT3 Cyber's port to Drop's cylindrical profile (DCX). Quick Links:

---

Gen 1 premises:
  • Avoid group buys and delays, this is an in stock (doubleshot) set funded by a company;
  • Experiment with MT3 -> DCX profile port;
  • Gather feedback for future kit tweaks, kit implementations and collabs/addons.

Planned updates for Gen 2:
  • Yellow chaotic modifiers kit to take the set to a next level, for those who enjoy this aspect from MT3 Cyber;
  • Yellow spacebars kit;
  • Extra B on the Base Kit for Alice/Ergo layouts;
  • Shift keys with improved kerning.

Updates that I'd like to include, pending feedback (please fill the form for Gen 2 here):
  • Dual Katakana/Dual Hiragana/Dual Hangul sublegends;
  • Support for Norde + UK layouts;
  • Ortholinear and 40% coverage with a standalone Base Kit instead of just 4-keys support;
  • Icon modifiers;
  • Cyberpunk inspired novelties;
  • Deskmat, cables and custom sleeve on the box;
  • Etc, please check the form here for full breakdown.

---

Thanks for checking out DCX Cyber Gen 1 - if possible please fill the form for Gen 2.

Your support is everything, so thank you very much!

I filled out the form, but I wanted to add to it. I would love to see basic alpha colored Alice spacebar support in the base kit like in your recent GMK projects. I wouldn't mind a split spacebar kit otherwise as long as they are alpha colored, and I don't have to buy a whole 40's base kit. Though out of scope for this set, my opinions apply to all future DCX sets (e.g. would love to have split bars for DCX Dolch).

Understood so you mean 2.00u + 2.25u + 2.75u + B on the base, all alpha colored?

i have both 40s and 60s+ keyboards, and would prefer there an option for 40s and split space kits to be add-ons as opposed to having to buy a whole base kit for my 40s and a whole other base kit for my normie keyboards.

This perspective is also interesting, the fact is that we have a bit of a complicated situation:
  • Path 1: Base Kit + 40s Addon Kit
Pro: - People who have common keyboards and happen to have 40% keyboards as a secondary keyboard strongly benefit from this. I believe most people who have a 40% keyboard also have at least one "normal" (60% or 65% or 75% or TKL, etc) keyboard, so on paper it makes total sense. Cons: - More expensive for the customer than a standalone 40% Base Kit. - It adds SKU complication to the project, the more niche addons (e.g. 40s Kit is a niche addon, novelty kits are popular addons) the more expensive and complicated the project gets for everyone. - If the Base Kit sells out then the 40s Addon Kit (from a vendor's perspective) becomes useless, since likelyhood of somebody buying it on its own is low. It's "dead" money sitting on a warehouse that could be used to invest in other kits or other improvements for the profile. - Complicated to manage, once the set is getting restocked a bet has to be placed because no one really knows what is the parity between Base Kits & 40s Addon Kits.
  • Path 2: Base Kit and 40s Base Kit, both independent from each other
Pros: - Easy to manage from an inventory standpoint; - Unlikely to sell out but once it does a restock based on previous data can be made; - In the event of the Base Kit selling out, the 40s Base Kit still provides an oportunity for someone looking to build a board with that specific set of keys, before the regular Base Kit restock comes in; - Cheaper than the combination of Base Kit + 40s Addon; - Can be properly designed without legend/row compromises and other stuff that detract from a full experience, it kinda sucks to make compromises when buy 40% addons that are lacking a key or two (I've experienced this myself several times as a Preonic user). Cons: - Since most people who have a 40% keyboard also probably have some other keyboard, in case they want to change what keyboard the keycap set is being used on, buying both base kits becomes necessary. Of course there are probably many other Pros/Cons that I am missing (and perhaps even other paths), if people could chime in with their perspectives it would be appreciated.

So I'm like your example, I have a 40% keyboard and a normal keyboard. But I'm only interested in buying the 40% set because the normal keyboard keycaps are so easy to find that I have already put together a perfect one while I'm still struggling to put together a coherent 40% set (it's a mishmash of different sets), so I'll be highly interested in getting the 40% DCX set but not a normal set.

Yes exactly. I would even settle for just 2.25u, 2.75u, and B if that was the only way forward.

Upgraded my Drop Alt with a cheap EVGA Z15
When I saw the hotswappable EVGA Z15 keyboard was only 40 bucks and the same price as buying just the KAILH Bronze switches I wanted to try in my Drop Alt, I went ahead and bought it from Amazon. On prime day it was even cheaper at only 35 bucks, I can't say I regret paying the extra 5 for the value I got out of it though. I basically got a whole spare keyboard, keycaps, 8 free speed silvers, a switch and keycap puller, all for the same price as 110 Kailh Bronze switches I was already doing to buy. I used the keyboard for a few days before popping the switches out, and found the stabilizers on the spacebar to be much nicer than the ones in my 2 year old Alt (I understand Newer drop alts have a better stabs included). Out of curiosity I looked at the stabs in the Z15 and found them to be a match for the drop alt, and swapped them over, I didnt even have to unscrew anything, just popped them out with the tabs. My spacebar feels so much nicer now, and I didn't have to pay another 25...

Quick give em ideas
Hypothetically, imagine DROP could get any licensing rights for any past present and future GMK set, and make it in DCX, what would it be? (ima start stirring the pot with DCX Nuclear Data)

Drop Control Connection Issue
When I plug the keyboard into a computer, it usually takes anywhere between 10 to 30 seconds before the LED’s power on and my inputs go through. Is there any reason for this? Thanks!
