Fuck that Ortho coverage.
No 1u Enter, the renders show a Planck with Home and End as Tab and Esc. Pathetic attempt to shoe horn that in...
The only pathetic thing here would be to make a dedicated kit that not enough people would buy, or to force everyone to pay for a bunch of 1u keycaps only useful to a minority. According to my forms, research and expertise there is not enough interest from the 40%/Planck users in order to justify focused action. The keycap set works with the Planck, some people don't care about accurate legends, while other don't like them. In both cases its okay.
So adding 5 1u keys was the step too far? Tab, Esc, Raise, Lower and Enter are all that are missing.
Considering some of the sets you have designed in the past have been fantastic for compatibility (GMK Laser being one that springs to mind) this is a huge disappointment.
Unfortunately it was, so I decided to favor the share of the community who is more inclined to support the project - which is the 60/65/TKL/104 and the ones with split space bars. I also think it's a big disappointment, I always try to be as inclusive as I can (sometimes even too much) but unfortunately this time around I had no justification. I'd obviously love to include all layouts, like Ergo, Colemak, International - there is no reason to simply exclude people in our community. But like I said this time around I just couldn't justify it.
so remove the covers "planck" from the image to make it more honest
The kit covers the Planck like the renders suggest, there's nothing "dishonest".
I always have to raise my eyebrows seeing inclusion of a second B, PgUp and PgDwn on every single row, ISO and numpad, but somehow a few 1u keys are a stretch too far. I don't want to blast MiTo here, because thanks to him I got a very niche layout covered in several sets, but I dislike how all above mentioned keys never raise a discussion while ortho/40s does.
GMK has an MOQ model which makes it very unlikely to cater to alternative layouts. The blame is with them and I really hope we get to see another Cherry profile manufacturer which can do things differently. In the meantime, I'll be looking at KAT.
Not really. THat's about as good as saying "you've got a plus/minus for R2 and R3 and a 00 2U for splace" so plank is covered. smh.
But don't get me wrong. I'm still buying this set. ;-)
I think I need to sell my GMK Plum.
