What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. I will list its benefits below, but can state right at this point that the SpaceFN concept, setting up your space key as a layer switch when held, is clearly one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby....

Also seems like shipping order is pretty arbitrary overall.
Scalper Someone who purchases large quantities of goods (usually tickets) early with the sole intention of re-selling them at a higher price at a later date (closer to the event).
I mean, if I wanted to be a jerk I could have bought a bunch of the most popular sets during the sale period and then put the squeeze on people for them later, but that's not something I'd want to do.
Overall though there's no way for Massdrop to know who's buying kits to use or gift, and who's buying kits to resell later, so it seems sort of futile to expect them to prioritize shipping accordingly.
Scalpers are way more annoying because they take away from a resource (like concert tickets, with limited seats) but in this case if the flippers didn't buy sets then lower MOQs would be reached and the total number of sets would be even more limited.
Now of course this is 10 months ago, obviously the buy is closed and if a new person wished to purchase a set now they couldn't, this is the nature of custom made, high quality, professionally manufactured items, they can't just be made in small quantities, made to demand. I guess I just don't understand the problem people have with "speculators" buying sets to resell them.
I think it's quite a smart investment tbh and if I had enough spare cash I'd be doing it. These people inflate the buy numbers meaning we hit price drops quicker, the quantities are higher which incentivises GMK, SA or whoever to improve their production facilities and shows to them that these products are popular. Whilst they do inflate the prices (which is fair because they've invested thousands of dollars over almost a year), they do provide a way for people who really want this set but missed the buy a way to purchase these caps, if they really want them. If people don't like the price then they dont have to buy the caps, because at the end of the day they're purely cosmetic
This will be my first gmk set and I wanted to see how I liked the profile before deciding on whether to buy sa green screen or not since I quite like SA profile. Guess I'll just have to order that then and then sell it (I know...) if I like gmk that much more
