Everything I thought it would be ... AND MORE
Such an iconic set that I'm thrilled to finally add to my collection. I'm currently rocking the Synthwave set with Turbo add ons. This is the most I've ever spent on a set of caps and probably will ever spend ... but man was it worth it. Bravo MiTo.

great caps, only minor drawbacks imo
leta start with the pros: 1-mito put a lot of effort into getting the colors just right. he went all the way to gmk in germany to help get things perfect, and the colors came out great imo 2-mito also works with the comm extensively to get ppl the kits they want 3-the creativity of these caps was very on point, particularly the novelties. now the cons(which really have nothing to do with mito, BUT just my personal take on this set): 1-IN MY OPINION, this set only looks good on a black case. i’ve seen all the pics and really nothing works with this set BUT the black case. totally my own opinion, BUT thats how i feel 2-im a big fan of making keebs that are completely alien. what i mean is that bc im a touch typist i prefer the legends to be decorative only, and thats why i always get mitos alternate kits like with canvas i got rams and with laser i got kobe, and although mito offers mitocon mods there is really no alt kits for the number row, which really looks strange when everything but the num row is unintelligible. now, with laser i did fill the num row with novelties, BUT i still think if your gonna make alt legends then make an alt num row two. again this is totally my opinion 3-finally, i also wish there were more alt legend kits with more of the neon alt colors like the yellow and orange. the 80s were loud and had crazy colors like this and i would have preferred more color choices tbh EDIT: i do really like what mito did with this second run of gmk laser. in this run he offers the same color mods. i think thats gonna look sick with teal boards, silver boards and possibly navy boards. great work!!!

Welcome to the drop page, I hope you're excited for the Laser GMK project!
During the upcoming weeks we will be offering exclusive collaborations to celebrate the Laser culture. Exciting side drops will take place between some known community members and Massdrop. Other independent community creators/contributors will be expressing their creativity and passion for our project too, following their own terms.
We would like to thank every single one of you for the incredible support during the development phase, and we expect you all to have a very pleasant and unique experience with the Laser universe. We wanted to do justice to our keyset manufacturer capabilities, so everything we are presenting was conceived following top quality industry guidelines and state of the art technology, the best we can possibly offer so you can enjoy the purple hype.
Laser is filled with cultural references and it inspired me and JoTo to write together a cyberpunk short story dedicated to the project. Hands on Deck - The Laser GMK Short Story by MiTo and JoTo is debuting Nov. 3rd on my website. You'll have the chance to support independent artists and dive deep inside the universe we shaped. At the same time, I'm gonna be offering limited edition trinkets that I prepared myself here in Brazil and I hope you enjoy them. This is going to be the Laser Shoppo grand opening!

FAQ:
> What kits I need to fill my keyboard?
In order to cover the vast majority of MX stem keyboards you'll most likely need the Cyberdeck kit at the very least, but lots of 60% and mini layouts can be covered with a combination of Gaijin/Kobe + Blocknet, and even more form factors can be covered with the addition of the Mitowaves. Depending on your specific layout, such as the Planck and Preonic, the Spacebars kit may be required so please double check before placing your order. Split keyboards can be covered with Gaijin/Kobe + Ergo and European layouts will be covered with the combination of Cyberdeck + Euro. The Mitowaves kit is entirely optional and if you are a Colemak/Dvorak user you already know you're covered.
> What happened to the arcade references from the novelties kit?
We decided to not offer those designs due to licensing restrictions, since they strongly resembled famous video game characters.
> Why *insert keycap* is missing from the Euro kit?
Because according to the data we collected during the past 4 years, the demand for European kits has been always underwhelming, in the grand scheme of things, representing a minority. They result in extra costs for everyone and offering complex international kits tend to result in logistic and fulfillment errors as they add a significant degree of complexity to the manufacturing and sorting process. As a result, only the most popular European layouts are covered, with the bare minimum number of keycaps to make it functional, following the most simplistic aesthetic theme present in the keyset.
> What's the *insert design* symbol present in the Mitowaves kit?
All of the designs are either '80s/retrowave/cyberpunk or short story references!
> What's the matter with the Blocknet kit?
Those came from Canvas XDA, we figured the community would enjoy a futuristic and aesthetically pleasing iconography to replace the modifiers. So we adapted the convention and ported some elements to the Cherry doubleshot profile. Below you can see a tiny example about how I arrived at the CONTROL design. If there's enough interest I can go ahead and provide a full breakdown.

> Why are the Japanese kits designed the way they are?
For the Gaijin kit, the current manufacturing methods that exist do not permit triple shot plastic injection, as a result all legends are the same color. It celebrates the busy cyberpunk aesthetics. As for the Kobe kit, it exists to represent the beautiful Japanese minimalism.

I kinda suspected this might be the case based on what little I know about how the keys are manufactured, but I wanted to avoid any unnecessary mind blowing. @rymac , you may now proceed with having your mind blown. :D

elFickTo be honest, I was excited even when I thought it was only a small amount of sets being produced.
Hi Everyone,
We have an update on the production status of the Massdrop x MiTo GMK Laser Custom Keycap Set. MiTo has received the latest samples of the alpha colors and the color scheme is not matching what he envisioned. We wanted to give everyone a heads up that this delay in color confirmation may cause a delay in our estimated ship date.
MiTo knows there are very high expectations for the Laser set, and he wants to make sure the colors are up to the standards of the community. Because of this, MiTo (located in Brazil) is on his way to Germany to confirm the alpha colors in person. New techniques and color matching procedures are taking place right now, in order to ensure an exact match to his vision and the product designed.
Once the finalized colors are up to the standards we are all used to, MiTo will go ahead and authorize manufacturing.
We’ll provide an update in late April with the latest information.

t_glanceI like that, where do I buy?
Hey everyone,
The Laser Keycap set is making its way through production! We estimate that sets will be complete by the end of the month and ship to members in mid July.
As soon as I get my QC units, I'll definitely be posting a few pictures. In the meantime, @Mito did add a teaser for the novelties kit on his instagram if you want to check it out.
We will update everyone again in early July.

I think you're onto something about Fedex using bikes... my Apogee Chef knife is scheduled for delivery Friday July 13th, it left Grove City, OH at 1 AM Saturday and hasn't reached anywhere yet. Why?
search
Because Google says it takes 63 hours by bike to transfer it to KC MO, which means it will reach there by around 4 PM Monday...
search
And then I assume it will be sorted to leave Tuesday night, and take another 21 hour bike ride to Broken Arrow, where it will be transferred to USPS, who will take all day Thursday to "sort" it, then put it on a vehicle for delivery Friday. There's no other logical explanation...

Don't feel like you have to reply everyone's quesiton on when, you are not that important. If you get annoyed by ppl's questions, just don't look at the threads here and patiently wait for the drop. But for ppl coming here for the frist time to find accuration information, you comment about it being done already would mislead ppl and not everyone has the time to stay in a discussion thread to read through them all day like you. Consider this is my last reply, adios.

Dear MassDrop Crew,
Have re-installed a totally FRESH Operating System with NO anti-virus apps whatsoever and sure enough your DISGUSTING website still shows me this BRIGHT RED error box;
"There was an error processing your payment. Please check the information entered and try again. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with us at Massdrop Support."
Time and time again that very same message over and over again, it's like Ground Hog Day only this time I am left with no help from you lot at all. Just the usual 'way-above-my-pay-grade' responses Also Microsoft is getting sick of me contacting them about this whole mess.
This is a NEVER ending amount of misery here just not worth it anymore. I will never again re-install my operating system again for you lot here on MassDrop, when this is all up to you not me to solve this.
Also it means that from now on I am forced to get my Key-sets elsewhere, shame really since obviously you lot don't care whatsoever. Maybe this is the REAL MD that is showing when it gets complicated everyone ducks for cover and leaves their former customers in the lurch.

Thanks for the feedback and for not completely tearing me to pieces. To be entirely honest...I was grumbling. Currently I have to prioritize a little more than some. So while I would like to get into the hobby, I have to take a step back when I consider the cost. When I see a piece of plastic and metal that clearly has a demand my first thoughts are that should not be too difficult to make readily available. However when that same item is made in limited runs and the price increases, it’s not necessarily because it was costly or hard to come by. Often it’s because they intentionally limit the opportunity to buy it. Or in this case they may be early prototypes so they don’t want to many out there? I don’t know. Some people enjoy being able to obtain something limited Me? I’m not in a position to do that and would just build something cool without the trouble the first time around. Being the novice that I am, I may have made a mistake by opening my mouth on an enthusiast forum. Btw, congrats on selling the lama for that much. Pretty sure that’s not the norm though. I’m fine with the mecha mini for now; it should be easy enough to sell once I’m ready to build again. Since you seem to know a good deal about this, can you recommend a good place to go from there as far as learning to build and choosing parts?

MiToCould only afford the Gaijin set, but that's fine by me, these are beautiful caps that I'm SOO looking forward to slapping on my keeb, looking forward to it <3
Hey everyone,
We have an update on the Laser Keycap Set. Mito has returned from his trip to Germany, where he was able to finalize all the colors for GMK Laser. We’ve ordered the color resin and once this arrives production of the missing colors will be in full swing. Based on the delay in color approval we estimate that the keycaps will now ship in July.
We apologize for this delay. The team is working hard to get the Laser set through production in a timely manner, and we will provide an update in late May with a more precise ship date.
In the meantime, here is a picture of some of keycaps that were made to test the colors:

Had actually been looking at the contra a while back. One of these days when I have time / motivation to assemble a fully custom keyboard, I will probably look to ortho before standard staggered.
I got a TKL Carbon Set and some Pulse from an old SP grab bag and that's what i've been running (mix match) as my daily for a while now on my Z-88 (~70% layout) - Not only does SA just feel great to type on, it also makes my Z-88 not sound so high pitched (being that it uses otemu blues and is a frameless case).
ALL ORTHO ALL THE WAY!

If you split the GMK Laser base kit into pieces like SP GBs usually do with DSA and SA (which would allow buying just alphas, TKL, and numpad all separately), we would be paying most likely around double of the $135 minimum for the things which currently are in the base kit.
So for a regular 104-keyboard you would probably be looking at $135+ prices in any case (assuming 100-250 MOQ). GMK and SP pricing models are not the same.
I also can use the GMK Laser base kit on all my 5 different ANSI/ISO keyboards that I currently own. For ErgoDox I would need to buy the extra kit. I call $135 an OK price for that. :)
