Great quality, but steep learning curve
High quality keycaps with nice, crisp legends (or whatever you might call these non-letter symbols), and very vibrant colors on the deco kit. Definitely DO NOT get these if you aren't super practiced with touch typing...I may have made a mistake...

Colour is more grey than black.
Other than the title, the colours look amazing. Very vivid.

As expected, which is probably not saying much
Disclaimer: I bought the set with my own money and this is the second GMK set I bought (first one being GMK Pulse). It should be pretty obvious that no one is paying or reviewing this review before it is published, and honestly I am not important enough for anyone to ask me review things. With that out of the way, let's postulate these (GMK) Pixel. Background: I am looking for some keycaps that can work with my current keyboard layout (Workman) that is sculpted. Around the time that the GB is open, there are little to no sculpted that supports colevrak. Some that do are either not my type, out of stock, or I already have. When Pixel was announced, I don't actually want to get into it because its sibling—GMK Pulse—was restocked and they also have colevrak support. I can't say that Pulse is my preferred colourway, but (at the time) layout beginner can't really be picky when it comes to sculpted. That being said, I ended up picking up on GMK Pulse. This conundrum ends up to nothing, fortunately, as I managed to pull some financial string on my end and here we are. The process: Delay is definitely there. It is said that the keycaps should arrive in around June 2021 but due to stuffs (you know what happened) it is delayed to December 2021. I am personally okay with it as some of these things are really out of the control of Drop (and to an extent GMK), but I also can relate to the criticism thrown around. I do believe that Drop can improve the communication on their end, however. There are cases where the Pre-Order Update Thread is faster than the update email by at least one day (self anecdote so YMMV), and that latency certainly dishearten a lot of us (myself included). The fact that it arrived to my door is great, no doubt, but the roller coaster that is keycaps GB continues. Shipping: They shipped mine through FedEx. I am not a huge fan of them since they are on the upper end of pricing here, they do get their job done. The package itself is sufficiently secured and unlike last GMK package I received the box is not smushed. Packaging:

From what I can infer from my 2 purchases of GMK keycaps (this being the second), package consist of cardboard banderole, cardboard tray cover, and biodegradable cellulose trays. The design is minimalistic and I quite like it. No issue here, but it seems that the trays itself are not as rigid as GMK thought. Some parts of it—especially the divider inside of it—seems to deteriorate during shipment. I suppose this can be fixed along the way but at the moment, do keep that in mind as the particles do make things seems dirty. Here you can see some of the keycaps that I am not currently using and they look like they have dandruff on them.

Keycaps: I'm gonna go with the less 'controversial' take first since god knows if people on the internet doesn't have the same opinion. First, I think the surface finish here is really nice. It feels nice on the fingies and it looks nice too. If you were expecting any sort of quality from your purchase, you're probably in the right place. The whole thing feels sturdy and that's reassuring for the amount you paid. The design itself can be debatable, but one thing for sure is that each keycap looks uncluttered. Of course you can use blanks but what's the fun in that :p. One thing of note that might help other people on their purchase is probably how dark the keycap actually is. Here's a comparison between Pixel and Pulse. As you can see (and I hope my camera picks up the difference well enough), the background colour on Pulse (right) is darker and closer to black compared to Pixel.

Set compatibility is great since the chance of that happening for 40% users is pretty small and you don't have to deal with legend compatibility as much (most of us probably don't have this issue because we're built different, but it is a nice change of pace). Here's an image on my 40% daily driver

Now onto the take that some might think controversial: I think the profile is okay at best. Now don't get me wrong, it's fine. It really is, but it really do feel really generic. At times it feels like I'm typing on your generic keyboards but this time it's not mushy. I guess this is what happened when a profile is so successful people copy the heck out of it. Now of course, the fact that this profile feels generic might be a boon for some and if that is the case for you, that is great! Another might-be-controversial opinion is Homing Scoop. It freaking sucks! the sides are a tad to sharp and the scoop is not deep enough to be noticeable compared to other keys. Homing Bar, on the other hand, is GOAT. It's great because it is really noticeable even compared to other homing bars that I've tried. Verdict: I mean, it's GMK. If you're in this hobby (new or old), you probably already know what to expect at least when it comes to the product itself. It's nice, it's probably inoffensive, and it's probably a worthwhile purchase in the long run. As for the colourway, I personally adore it (hence why I joined the group buy) and I feel like these sort of things should be available more often. Some of us just don't want to see legible stuffs on our keycaps, you feel? At the same time, we also don't want to live with just blanks, yea? Worst of all, some of us can't even with uniform layout... Sucks to be them and I hope they can move on, but really this and some of those with similar ideas in mind is probably one of the greatest thing to come for this hobby and I really hope that they can bring this to more profiles. Okay, this gets real rambly at the end but tl;dr colourway gud, gmk gud but profile is k

Good quality keycaps, but definitely not black and white.
Overall, a good quality set of caps, but when the description says the design is “…built on a foundation of black and white.” you would expect black and white key caps, right? The base set is definitely NOT black, but more like a charcoal grey, which was rather disappointing. The colors of the decorations and space bar sets are bright and vivid. I would still recommend this set, but only if you’re okay with a grey and white set.

Watch out when opening the box, all my caps fell out
Buying a set of anonymous pixel keycaps seemed super fun until I received them and noticed that the two containers the caps came in were only closed with more than a tiny piece of tape (besides the covering cardboard container), I managed to somehow pull the containers out upside down and they opened. All my caps ended up on the floor and now I have to gather the energy to try to compare the profile on each one to see which row they're supposed to be on – I thought they'd be row marked on the inside but no luck there. Anyway, ask me again how they feel to use in 2030 or something like that. Getting a good review for looking good, even if they're in a big pile now.

NEVER participate in Drop's GroupBuys..
Participated in this group buy, paid $130 for a base kit and waited months only for it to be discounted by 30% a few months later. Seems petty but I feel ripped off that I I put the money up for this to be produced and now it's being offered for much cheaper. THERE WILL ALWAYS be extra stock with DROP so never waste your money on a group buy.

feels and sounds really nice on my GMMK pro. the base kit feels a little bland without some decorations, but it might look better on a 65% or 60%. my only issue is that i wish there would be an indication of which keys belong to which row on the inside of the keycaps, instead of figuring it out through trial and error.

Looks great on funky layouts!
Clean base kit that covers lots of interesting setups. I also find it easier to use layers w/ these b/c I don't get distracted by the original legends. The ortho board up top shows these after 18 months of heavy work use😅

It came with the keyboard. It’s a Mr. Suit by Owlabs. It supposed to look like a suit and rose at the same time. I really wish it was silver instead of gold. It was random on what cap you got.
